Should this page be called 'Unified National System'
[edit]Yes, the change was revolutionary. Yes, it was initiated by Minister John Dawkins. But the actual policy was called the 'Unified National System'. It did what it said on the tin: took the different parts of higher education system (universities, institutes of technology and colleges of advanced education) and unified them.
At the very least, could someone please add a redirect from 'Unified National System' to this page. At the moment, if you search for 'Unified National System', you get nothing.

Title not very helpful
[edit]The current title "Dawkins Revolution" suffers from a few issues. I don't think most people's normal understanding of the term "revolution" (some kind of uprising to overthrow a government) is quite appropriate. Nor does it indicate anything about what the changes were. I think something like "Dawkins teritary education reforms" would be a better title in that it makes clear that it is about changes in the tertiary education and the name Dawkins is very much still in use to refer to those changes (at least within the tertiary education sector). Your thoughts? Kerry (talk) 21:15, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
