this is way 2 old!!!!! September 22 there's going to be a rematch between Kely Monaco and John O'Hurley (possibly due to the controversy surrounding the fact that Kelly was working on an ABC show and was touted as the underdog all the time).
whoohoo!Elmo1
They have it in Russia too. It's called Tantsi so Svyozdami. http://www.rutv.ru/tvpreg.html?id=109342&cid=28&d=0 But I'm too stupid to change the article. Giant squid 14:41, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Pafcool2 19:04, 10 November 2007 (UTC)== Corrected some major inaccuracies ==
There were a number of inaccuracies which I have now corrected. Many of the versions listed were not the Dancing With The Stars format at all. Dancing With The Stars [the best show evahh] is the BBC format known in the UK as Strictly Come Dancing. Of course there are other dancing shows on television around the world, but they do not belong in this article, especially as many of them could be unauthorised copies of the BBC version.
The statistic on SCD/DWTS being the most popular show in the world in 2006 comes from a report by Eurodata TV Worldwide for BBC Worldwide. RMM77RMMM
So, RMM77, What exactly is the Dancing with The Stars format and why are those other ones different? Some of those ones have been influenced and originated from the ideas on the show. Perhaps there could be some sort of influences part on the page or maybe a link to other types of dancing shows like the one's you omitted. I thinkit could be a fair thing to do if people are trying to look at this page for information on those shows.
Hi Samsuek. My previous edits (the discussion seems to have been erased now) were just to point out a simple fact. With any television format, it can only be a version of the actual format as described (in this case, it was described as a BBC format) if it is an officially licensed version. Otherwise it's just a copy - it's not a version of the show. And although I agree that people may well want to look up info on those copies, it is factually inaccurate to say that it is the same programme; that was all I was trying to point out. But I take the point that it might have a place here - it should just be more clearly defined because at present, it's not accurate unfortunately. But I'll leave this to others now as I am no longer following the different versions. Have fun! RMM77 (talk) 00:24, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Poland dancing
Should we make a seperate page for the Polish version as there is alot of information for it here, making this page clutered.
Canada?
Why is Canada colored in on the world map when Canada doesn't have its own version of the show? Please correct this inaccuracy. Alex 04:38, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:1154692497.jpg
Image:1154692497.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Map update?
I've added China. Someone with the appropriate software might like to add China (including Hong Kong, not including Macao or Taiwan) to the map. Matt's talk 21:17, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Spanish version as model
The spanish language version looks cleaner and more organized than the english version. this might be a good model to emulate here. http://es.wiki.x.io/wiki/Bailando_con_las_estrellas 76.88.44.229 (talk) 06:09, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
umm...
Sorry, I didn't know what to write for a headline. My comment is not actually about this page but about the pages for the stars who have appeared on it. I went to a few of their pages and saw that they all had lists of what dances they did and the results for each week. This just seems silly and unnecessary to me. For reference I went to the pages of a few American Idol alumni and none of those pages listed all the songs they sang or their weekly results. And some of these were people whose main or only claim to fame is American Idol. So why is it necessary to list this for DWTS celebs? I understand that this show is really popular right now, but that doesn't make what dances a star did every week on a dancing competition something important that should be included in their encyclopedia entry. And I can't imagine that in ten or however many years when this show has been off the air for a while that this information will still be deemed relevant. So basically I was wondering does anyone agree with me or am I way off base? 24.34.48.32 (talk) 17:51, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Splitting out articles?
This page is now far too long, and there is too much information contained. I suggest we create a new page for each country, and try to get decent writeups for each. Any suggestions? Tim (Xevious) (talk) 14:58, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
- Definetly needs an immediate split. Several national variants already have their own pages, as they should since they meet notability, therefore to have some random ones merged into the series mainpage is nonsensical. Imperatore (talk)
- The sections for Austria, Denmark, and Slovakia have recently been split out.--Felix Folio Secundus (talk) 09:58, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Franchise History
It seems to me that the franchise history section really only focuses on the American, English and New Zealand versions of the show and the stats from other versions of the show are not used or unknown. Most of the stats are inaccurate because of this, for example Shawn Johnson is not actually the youngest contestant to appear on a Dancing with the stars program, there have been contestants in European versions that are younger than her. I feel that this section should just be cut out. Each country's version has it's own stats, I don't know that it is worth compiling all the info from ALL the different versions such as youngest/oldest, most wins etc. Each country should have this type of info on it's own page. Anyone that is really that curious can just look it up for themselves. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.87.70.183 (talk) 02:29, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Map of the world
This is not up-to-date as India, Japan and South Africa are missing.--Felix Folio Secundus (talk) 10:26, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
- The map still needs to be updated; Korea is missing as well.--Felix Folio Secundus (talk) 20:18, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
Formatting
The formatting isn't consistent throughout. Some winners are listed on tables and some are apart of bullet lists. There should just be one and can stick to that. The participants can be listed too and there can be a way to get through all this. Anyone have any ideas of how to approach this? It seems like a big task.
