Nicknames and translations

[edit]

Fans and the mexican media use several nicknames to refer to the Cruz Azul team: Los Cementeros, La Máquina, La Máquina Azul, La Máquina Cementera, La Máquina Celeste.

As for the translation of "La Máquina" the term "machine" should not be used as this word refers to a wide variety of devices, while in the context of the team "la máquina" is a short form of "La Máquina Locomotora", in reference to the cement freight trains used by Cooperativa Cruz Azul to haul their product, and therefore should be translated as "The Locomotive". The fans usually blow a locomotive steam whistle during home games. The word "celeste" refers to the shade of blue that is part of the team colors and as such should be translated as "sky-blue". wow, its definetely la maquina azul not celeste. Anyways Jared Borgetti just got signed

Uhm, does anybody know why and when Cruz Azul stopped playing in Jasso and went to play in the Azteca Stadium, and then when they went to play in the Estadio Azul?201.244.110.24 04:03, 8 January 2007 (UTC) POL[reply]

It doesn't seem to me that CA had a great campaign in clausura 2007 bein 8th out of 20 or 21, we actually consider that pretty much a mediocre performance in Mexico but well... you may want to review the Sanction part which is what I refer to.

Hello from Soriar in Wisconsin. Let's keep the page clean. Tonight I caught a few attempts of fake player additions into the Cruz Azul new roster, as well as fake attritions, like Jared Borgetti's (because he is too old)... Please refrain to abuse the article in this manner. It would be bad to have to lock this wiki because of stupid irresponsible people.

Fair use rationale for Image:Cruz azul.gif

[edit]

Image:Cruz azul.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:35, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On the issue of "Cruz Azul" and "Frustrazul" as nicknames

[edit]

Its not vandalism if the club short name, as stated in the table on the right is "Cruz Azul", hence its not a nickname. It is the name used commonly to refer to it. On the issue of "Frustrazul" nickname, news anchor Francisco Zea of Mexican Cadenatres TV Network has stated that, since abour 5 years, the fans that go to the Cruz Azul's stadium refer to their team as "Frustrazul" because they aren't happy with the way players and directives manage their team -this was a specially strong movement after Victor Garces, vicepresident of the team, was charged with fraud on the organization. Francisco Zea, being a die-hard Cruz Azul fan, actually has made public pleas in his programs -both on TV and in Cadenatres sister radio network Reporte 98.5- on favor of this moniker, which has adquired certain acceptance by other adult fans of the team.

I hope those that revert the changes made actually manage to read this instead of simply undoing the changes without knowing why they're made.

P.S.: Besides "Frustrazul" as a nickname appeared in this page until late August. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.217.70.242 (talk) 02:41, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Frustrazul -> English: Failazul -> If you believe that put a negative nickname is correct, I don't think so. TbhotchTalk C. 02:44, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As I told before, many Cruz Azul fans have accepted this moniker, even if they love their team to death and support it, but aren't completely happy with the way the team has been managed recently. And if you think it is an negative nickname, check the origins of "El equipo Culé" for the nickname of the Barcelona Football Team. Although it began as a highly rude way to describe the fans of the team, it became an accepted moniker even if the word "Culé" still carries offensive connotations in the Catalá language.

File:C.F. Cruz Azul.png Nominated for speedy Deletion

[edit]
An image used in this article, File:C.F. Cruz Azul.png, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request
