Rags for Money

[edit]

On July 5th the following was added: One of the main components of the paper produced at the mill was cloth. Children were often accused of stealing clothes off the clothes line and taking them to the mill to get a little money to buy candy. Although I can certainly see this happening, I can't find any sources to verify this. Can anyone help??? JerAnderson 01:36, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for Selling the Mill???

[edit]

I have a question regarding this article that I'm wondering if anyone might know the answer to: What was the reason for selling the mill in 1892? Was it no longer needed, or did the Deseret News decide to subcontract the paper production in order to focus on their newspaper, or something else? JerAnderson 05:54, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, I believe I found the answer in an article on the Cottonwood Heights website.JerAnderson 01:36, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mills History Retold on 101.9 The End

[edit]

As part of a segment on ghost stories, Jimmy Chunga retold the history of the old mill on 101.9 The End's Chunga & Mister show this morning. He had a lot more information on what happened with the mill between the first fire in 1893 and its use as a haunted house. Did anyone happen to catch that information? I was listening in the car. I'd like to add the information about it being used as a country club type of facility, as well as the disco in the 70's, but will need some additional sources to back that up. There's obviously a lot more history to this building than what is currently represented in the article. JerAnderson 15:47, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When was it built?

[edit]

The article states it was built in the 1880s. However, then it links to a picture that is circa 1869. It seems something in the article is out of sync. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.187.0.178 (talk) 16:50, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good point - there seems to be some disagreement on its completion date. The [Image:Cottonwood Mill Sign.jpg|DUP sign] states 1966. I'll do some more research and see if I can get to the bottom of it.--JerAnderson (talk) 21:09, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
