[edit]We need a list of proposed cities and team names, if they existed, along with which MLB teams fulfilled the demand. The boxes at the bottom of the page just don't cut it. They're just there without any context. 24.178.48.29 (talk) 00:59, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
First 5 and other 3 dates
[edit]We have the date of the first 5 cities. I found Atlanta was the 6th city on Dec 8. it would be nice to find the other 2 announcement dates. I guess ONE peson doesn't feel it is needed. so i guess I am now in an edit war because one person doesn't think this information is needed Czechia2016 (talk) 14:34, 29 July 2017 (UTC) I think it silly that one person adds information with a source and yet because another person doesn't "think it is necessary" it gets removed and if I add it back I am the one "doing an edit war" the person who removes it is doing the edit war. Live and let live Czechia2016 (talk) 14:36, 29 July 2017 (UTC) the date the cities were announced is not overdetailed trivia Czechia2016 (talk) 14:37, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
- The reference was good. I kept that with a citation template for formatting. But the way the date was squeezed in there read and looked poor. And, frankly, it is trivial. The reason we have the date for the first five is because it is the same as the date for the league, and that announcement was historically significant. But the exact date a team that never played a game was announced is insignificant in the long run. oknazevad (talk) 14:42, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
In your opinion, it is insignificant. Other people might find it interesting when the other 3 were announced, were they announced at the same time or at different times how long after the first 5 and or before Aug 1960. I could say the names of the would be owners are insignificant since the league never played, but I am not going to remove them. Czechia2016 (talk) 14:56, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
date of Buffalo
[edit]appears to be Jan 29, 1960 can't find a free online source "Jan. 29.(AP)~ BUFFALO BERTH IN CONTINENTAL ..."Czechia2016 (talk) 23:55, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
11 not 10
[edit]At the July 27 1959 press conference to announce the league, Shea said there was interest from 11 other cities, not 10. Besides Atlanta, Dallas, and Buffalo, which eventually got franchises, they were Montreal, New Orleans, Miami, Indianapolis, San Diego, Portland, Seattle, and San Juan PR.
