New edits/additions

[edit]

An IP edit warrior started editing this article 29 Dec 2014, adding content that was unsourced. When this was pointed out to the IP as unacceptable, they began edit warring. Then adding Wikipedia as a reference. When this was reverted and pointed out to them that they could not use Wikipedia as a source, they started adding Spanish-only sources. At one point, the IP stated they were translating content from Spanish to English to put in the article. This has made for some very poorly constructed content, in some places it makes no sense at all. I have removed all of the Spanish references added and the excessive redlinks as well. I have requested page protection for this article. The IP has been hopping IP addresses for hours now, not only adding more poorly written content with Spanish references, but has also been vandalizing my user space as well as articles I edit. Apparently, the IP has a history of vandalizing talk pages, articles, and harassing editors, including the talk page of Jimbo Wales. Obviously, this is more than just an issue at this article and has been for some time. My hope is that protection for the article will happen and soon. -- WV 07:56, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I dont understand how somebody can beleive they are qualified to edit a post when they beleive the native language of a post for a small regional town is not a reliable source. This is not an academic attitude.

  • Comment winkelvi completely abuses his power and is not open to discus matters in an open and academic manner. I tried to have an open discussion with him about the sources of the hard work i had completed but he preferred to delete the work rather than contribute in helping me to improve it. I find this attitude oounterproductive and against the ethos of wikipedia. I completely appreciate that suitable reference are required, however wikelvi deleted the page and work before I had a chance to improve it meaning I lost all my work. Also the references exist in spanish and are accepted on the spanish version of the page. I think it is rather inappropriate to exist any language that is not english from being referenced. If you only accept references in english for a page about a country which is not english speaking you largely.limit the quality of the page to poorly informed second hand sources.

To conclude I would like to formally complain about the conduct of winkelvi — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.70.10.103 (talk) 08:07, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This article provides excellent information , incredibly detailed [[1]] and for the Ramal which winkelvi deleted because he has some personal grudge there is this article [[2]] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.222.243.182 (talk) 04:49, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article now appears to me to be in an acceptable state. Much of the deleted content and references have been restored. The "Ramal" has correctly been incorporated under "Transportation", and the standard of English throughout the article is considerably improved. Please no more reversions: Noyster (talk), 10:44, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed however the Economy section is slightly wrong, Arauco is still operating their plant. In fact post the Earthquake they invested heavily and built a sea wall to protect their factory from tsunamis. I can hear the factory and smell it so I know its still operating!! :-) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.222.243.182 (talk) 12:32, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Done The closure was of another CELCO plant. The plant at Constitución was definitely still going in 2010 - new ref added: Noyster (talk), 13:28, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

TV

[edit]

Constitucion has its own TV channel which is broadcast throughout the surrounding towns and is available online. Contivision — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.222.243.182 (talk) 12:47, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Review

[edit]

Thank you everyone for your additions to constitucion. I think you have all done a great job that benefits the majority by offering a thorough article. I can see you amde a lot of research and improved the page.

However with regards to the section on the fisherman Pedro munoz who died rescuing people from the island in the river, I think that it is a key part of the description of the town, he is a national hero and highly regarded in the town. Put into context the tsunami and earthquake where bigger than indonesia and some have claimed that the figures of 8.8 where change since insurance companies dont pay out above 9 richter scale. The town was completely destroyed and has been largely remodelled. it is now forbidden to build seaside homes, however the maritime authority grants permits for business use only.

The town was left in a bad state for a long time and the power companies were criticised after the town was without power for months. (think new orleans post katrina) Bachelet the then president (now president again after sebastian pinera) was highly criticised for not reacting enough to the disaster — Preceding unsigned comment added by 186.9.4.163 (talk) 21:26, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No one edited this article for you, so your thanks are misguided and unnecessary. 186.9.4.163, you are an IP-hopping and block-evading edit warrior and vandal who has vandalized editor userspace as well as other articles as retaliation for removing your malformed and gramatially incorrect edits. You are also very likely the indefinitely blocked user Bosnipedian who has a history of sock puppetry, edit warring, vandalization, and harassment of editors. Because of your edit warring at this article it is now under semi-protection until March. After the protection is lifted, you can edit content in or out. Until then, there is no way I will be doing anything you ask to be edited at this (or any) article. Doing so would be essentially giving a pass to your disruptive editing behavior, vandalism, and sockpuppetry. I refuse to enable you any further than you already have been or give you any more positive reinforcement than you've already received and recommend that anyone happening this way and reading this do the same. -- WV 23:35, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Winkelvi - I think you are confused. You are making allegations without evidence, plus you are putting a personal differences ahead of academic rigour. I am not the first person you have had these diagreements with , I see its a recurring theme for you on your talk page history et al. With the greatest respect, possibly you need to consider how you approach your contributions to wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 186.11.38.0 (talk) 03:26, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't need to re-evaluate anything. I'm not a sockpuppet or sockmaster, I'm not vandalizing anything in Wikipedia, I'm not harassing Wikipedia editors, and I'm not contributing nonsense and unencyclopedic content in Wikipedia. I'm not the one whose behavior caused article and talk pages to be protected. You, however, have done all of those things (so much for "academic rigour"). Are we done here? Good. -- WV 03:41, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You asked for the page to be protected, you directly requested it. Thus your behaviour did cause it to be protected. Im not a sock puppet, sock master or sock anything. I only learnt what it meant through your references to it. Just because I dont have a wikipedia account doesnt make me a sock anything. Wikipedia is not account only. That is not my decision. You are wrong to accuse me . Plus you are failing your duty as an editor if you do not focus your effort on producing the best results. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 186.11.38.0 (talk) 04:33, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
