Contradiction
[edit]The Introduction here stated (and has stated for about four years, now) that the Connollys were a company-strength unit of the American Lincoln Battalion of the XV International Brigade, formed from Irishmen who were earlier part of the British Battalion of the same Brigade. This was added, without any source to back it up, with this edit in November 2016 By an editor who has since been asked to leave. As this contradicts what the body of the article says (backed by the account from Michael O'Riordan, who ought to know) that the Connollys were amalgamated with the (British) Saklatvala battalion, though a number left to join the (Ammerican) Lincoln battalion due to tensions. It is unclear if the name 'Connolly Column' was used officially for either of these groups, but it seems the name is applied colloquially to all the Irish volunteers who fought for the Spanish Republic, so the confusion is understandable. Anyway, I've re-written the offending sentences to match the text prior to November 2016. I trust everyone is OK with that. Xyl 54 (talk) 19:44, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
Typo: Woods for Wood?
[edit]I think the mention of "Woods" (...Woods was a member of Fianna Éireann) and the end of the first paragraph of the In Spain section is a typo, as it seems to refer to Tommy Wood. I wanted to double check before changing it. DLUrner (talk) 05:15, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
