Fiske not Adams picture?

[edit]

Surely the picture here should be of Fiske and not Adams? 62.60.23.66 (talk) 10:59, 9 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fiske or Adams?

[edit]

The article says Fiske "coined" the expression but the picture says Adams "coined" it. Which is it?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.119.204.117 (talk) 21:52, 15 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Fiske-Adams issue in introduction

[edit]

Prior to 12-11-2013 the introduction and the image stated that J. Q. Adams coined the phrase America's Critical Period. On that date an editor changed the prose to state that John Fiske coined the phrase. They left the caption under the image unchanged, however. I have rectified this by removing the image altogether. I thought about putting Fiske's portrait in its place, but the photo of a late 19th century person seemed out of place in an article about the late 18th. I also did a little copy editing in the introduction. Drdpw (talk) 14:20, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
