nomen nudum?

[edit]

Is the name specifically a nomen nudum? Circeus 14:24, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It certainly fits the qualifications of a "scientific-looking" name that has been used without a diagnosis. I tend not to include the actual phrase when I'm editing, however, because it's not something that I expect people to be familiar with. I can stop doing that, though. J. I was thinking adding "nomen nudum" in parenthesis after "informal name". I actually just now noticed (reading Gryposaurus) that the link is to nomen nudum anyway >.>. Circeus 14:32, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And I just wrote this whole essay on the usage of nomen nudum through the ages. Shoot! Maybe I'll put it in my sandbox. :) J. Spencer 14:44, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's cool. I'm not fond of parenthetical statements, but it certainly works. J. Spencer 14:50, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
