Confusion of Cobden Club and Cobden Working Men's Club
[edit]This article suffers from confusing two similarly-named (but very different) institutions in London, both of them no longer existing: one a political imprint for Free Trade literature, run along the lines of a private member's club, the other a working men's club (later relaunched as a nightclub) in London's Kensal Town district.
Assuming the latter meets notability criteria, I suggest the simplest solution might be to create a second article for it.Debonairchap (talk) 10:52, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

[edit]The Cobden Club is not (now) a gentlemen's club. Not actually sure it ever was: I'm pretty sure it used to be a "Working Men's Club" ( http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Working_men%27s_club ). Now it is a modern private member's club, with a large number of members drawn from the media, much like "Soho House" in London's Greek Street.86.139.91.187 10:57, December 5, 2006
Two Cobden Clubs?
[edit]This article seems to be about a social club. I know from reading Victorian history that there was a Cobden Club founded in 1866 which had considerable impact on British politics by combating 'fair trade' theories through publishing free trade propaganda. This seems to be a separate Cobden Club?--Johnbull (talk) 12:01, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
