Fair use rationale for Image:RT1958.jpg
[edit]Image:RT1958.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Family members; concerns regarding entries
[edit]Cliff Michelmore is a significant media figure of, especially, the British TV era in the late 20th century. His teenage grandchildren, however, are not suitable entrants for inclusion in a serious encyclopaedic article. I have put notifications where the entries are thus slanted, rather than a deletion. I hope others will consider and resolve this inappropriate material. Trevor H. (UK) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Trevor H. (talk • contribs) 00:02, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
As others have not, I have have cut the irrelevant material here. I have the greatest respect for Mr Michelmore. However, Wikipedia guidelines are strict: "Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately," and the details of teenage relatives that were online fits that description and have no place here. Reference
[edit]The reference given is not a proper reference: "Production paperwork, The Radio Times and BBC Archive library all list the title in words, while the programme's logo used numerals." Whoever included it (or someone else) needs to pick one of those sources and properly format this reference. I've changed the "add additional references" tag to the unreferenced tag. First marriage
[edit]He was first married in 1941: http://www.isle-of-wight-fhs.co.uk/bmd_1/marriages/marapp.php?&date=19410414&name1=MICHELMORE&name2=Arthur+Clifford&name3=GRAHAM-MITCHELL%2C+HEASEMAN+&name4=Isabel+Maud&name5=&name6=HEASEMAN+&ref=COE15.5%2F2&place=Holy+Trinity%2C+Cowes but it never seems to be mentioned anywhere. Many problems with this article
[edit]Reading through various obituaries, it is clear that, especially concerning his time in the RAF, there are a lot of problems with the article. The second sentence is clumsy. The rest of the paragraph seems to be wrong, and missing some important points. Firstly, at the beginning of World War II, he was sent to France, but it became clear that his eyesight was not good enough, so he spent the rest of the war on the ground in various posting which included various air stations, and the Air Ministry.[1]
At the end of the war, he was sent to Denmark and according to the BBC[2], joined the British forces network as Deputy Director, in 1947, by which time he was a Squadron Leader. It was only at this time that he eventually started working at the Hamburg end of Two-Way Family Favourites, not as the article seems to suggest during the war. It was during this time, that his relationship with his future wife, Jean Metcalfe blossomed, his 1941 marriage ending in divorce in 1949. The Telegraph says "no hint of his affair with Jean Metcalfe was allowed to surface in Two-Way Family Favourites" but that is too ambiguous to put in the article without further confirmation. Importantly, the Telegraph also says "Having left the RAF and returned to London in 1950, he was in search of employment at the BBC."
There are other issues including the factually correct on its own: "After the war he worked for BBC Radio and television as a freelance sports commentator, then as a news reporter and as a producer of children's programmes, including All Your Own." which is misleading because that only happened in the 1950s, and not immediately after the war as it seems to suggest.
I do not have the confidence to tidy this up. At the moment, I am quite sick. Can somebody please help. Kittybrewster Kid (talk) 12:06, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
