List of eductional institutions were removed as promotions

[edit]

I would like to know how having the list of edutional institutions in cheyyyar page is a promotional or biased information, as it is removed with the comment saying - undue promotional. I think some one reading about cheyyar town would like to know about the schools around cheyyar. Do we violate any of the wikipedia policy in retaining that content ? If yes I would appreciate if someone could point me to that. Thanks! Karthik Sripal (talk) 16:59, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for taking this up in the talk page rather than blindly reverting as done by most with places articles. There were external links and unreferenced portions that needed to be removed. Writing about malls and yellow pages like content should be avoided. All contents with reliable refs are always acceptable. Please have a look at good articles like Madurai, Sirkazhi, Nagapattinam or Tiruchirappalli as how these are aligned. Thanks a lot.Ssriram mt (talk) 23:12, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article Name

[edit]

Also I think, The article name or title should be as cheyyar instead of Tiruvettipuram which is more prominent and well known name. Should we have the article name as cheyyar and have tiruvettipuram redirect to the cheyyar article ? - Karthik Sripal (talk) 19:04, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As per WP:Common Name - yes. You can rename the same - currently it is redirect in the reverse.Ssriram mt (talk) 23:14, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the Advice, Article Moved :) - Karthik Sripal (talk)
There is also information on a page titled "Tiruvethipuram" that probably should be moved here and replaced with a redirect. Sowelilitokiemu (talk) 20:06, 14 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please merge the Tiruvethipuram article with Cheyyar and keep the article title as 'Cheyyar' as this is the well know name than 'Tiruvethipuram', 'Thiruvothur' etc. I think Tiruvethipuram article was automatically generated from census data as 'Tiruvethipuram' is the official name of the municipality.
