Greeting, I proddedCharley Parks because the one "External link" to Basketball-Reference.com shows having played one year (1968–69) and I could find nothing else notable. The PROD was reverted (contested), which is alright, but with the edit summary the he "meets WP:NBASKETBALL".
I thought I would inquire here before I consider spending the time going to AFD or even RFC on any "mimimum" the project allows for notability. Otr500 (talk) 18:19, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the PROD as he meets WP:NBASKETBALL because I feel like an article that meets a subject-specific guideline should never be deleted without a discussion. I suspect the subject meets WP:GNG, but I am not at a place where I can verify this. I wouldn't have had an issue with an WP:AfD discussion, as even articles that meet the requirements of an SSG need to meet basic guidelines. The article is poorly written and not well-sourced, but the subject falls into a grey zone where on-line sources may not be readily available. Likely sources would come from offline books, etc. or sites like newspapers.com. I can check these in the coming days but if you feel compelled to take the article to AfD I don't see any issue with that. If you give me a day or two to look for sources I might be able to improve the article, though. Rikster2 (talk) 20:27, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Greeting, it is my opinion that if the subject reportedly meets WP:NBASKETBALL, then there is something seriously seriously flawed with that guideline. However, it is your right to contest a PROD. Since I can only go on what I see, and a search, I have to base my conclusions on that.
I am not in a hurry. The entire concept of maintenance (from my point of view, is to improve articles that can be improved or get rid of those that do not deserve article space. If you run across something other than what is in the article, or on an initial search, then I would be interested. At this point a retired player having played one season would hardly pass any form of notability but there may be more out there. Otr500 (talk) 19:06, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
