Why "Charles 'A.' Foster"?

[edit]

His personal website (linked from the article) has no "A." in his name, and I can find no reference (apart from this WP article) that has it. FrankSier (talk) 19:36, 19 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"...and badger"!

[edit]

"...and badger" has been added to the end of the list "...writer, traveller, veterinarian...barrister...".

If I understand the article history correctly, it was added by 62.255.10.98 on 26 February 2016. The talk for this IP address User talk:62.255.10.98 indicates that this IP address has some previous history of (a) contribution(s) of questionable intention. (Though in the present case I think the entry is, or could be, well-intentioned.)

"...and badger" has some truth in it (see 'Being a Beast' info in the article) but it is probably not in WP style. I see it as humour with a quite large element of truth. I am trying to think of a way of expressing the truth of this in a more WP style, but I cannot think of an existing name for what he does as described in Being a Beast and the articles in Oxford Today and The Guardian. I am thinking of "explorer of animal experience" or "animal experience experimentalist" but these are just terms invented by me and so probably not suitable.

I have left in "...and badger" for the moment. (And I am planning to add "philosopher" to the list as that is something he does not really covered already in the list, and it relates to the "...and badger" issue.) FrankSier (talk) 10:18, 3 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@FrankSier: I was thinking this myself. I was going to remove it and rewrite the lead, but it's pretty hilarious how it's still there 6 months after it was first added. It probably is relevant and not just blatant vandalism. This is truly a Wikipediaism if one ever existed! Uamaol (talk) 13:11, 7 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
