Chapel of rest or of ease?
[edit]There's a link in the History section from Chapel of rest to Chapel of ease; but these seem to be two different things. Compare, for example the Wiktionary entry Chapel of rest: "An undertaker's room where the body of the deceased is kept prior to burial or disposal." Or see Funeral#United_Kingdom.
Of course, given that the chapel was built at the new cemetery means it could have served both functions simultaneously. Even so, there seems to be some ambiguity here. NeilOnWiki (talk) 09:54, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
