Merger/New Article

[edit]

The history section of this article makes me think we should consider a whole article about the Centerville Public School System, with this article as a part of it... --DinkY2K 10:48, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Misc

[edit]

I would like to inform the supervisor of this page that the picture you possess is NOT Centerville High School. It used to be back in the 1920s to the early '70s. Now this building is known as Magsig Middle School with grades 6-8. The front facade of Centerville High School was built in 1973 (the Central, West, and East units). I believe the South unit wasn't built until the early to mid '80s. Centerville City Schools educate Centerville and Washington Township residents.

Here's a decent picture: [[1]]

Not quite sure where to get more information; the school main page is very vague. Things needed:

  • Exact year of current building's construction
  • More notable alumni

Is a very Niased page and goes aginst the POV.

Biased? Do elaborate please

Edits

[edit]

The principle is Eileen Booher... and the most "successful" athletic team has never been established, and is difficult to determine because of the history involved behind every sport. So please stop making pride and ego edits. Lastly, the official "rival" school of CHS is Fairmont. DinkY2K 19:00, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Use of yearbooks

[edit]

One of my yearbooks states that it was built in 1973. Also, I counted the faculty members pictured and there are 144. Can this info, and really this type of info from yearbooks, go in to this article? I can't find any copyrights in the book, certainly not like a normal book. --Eric Jack Nash 17:48, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mistake/Confusion?

[edit]

Someone (IP address 71.65.92.121 and also 71.67.134.179) has recently changed some info back to what it was about a week ago and to even more eronious info - Principal, number of students, colors, mascot. I'm thinking that they don't realize that this is not the school that they're thinking of, even though it clearly says "in Centerville, Montgomery County, Ohio, situated south of Dayton, OH". There's no other Centerville city or high school matching that descripion. But there are many other Centervilles in the U.S., and maybe even one in Ohio. So, what do you all think can be done other than just modifying it back (reverting?) when this incorrect info is put in? --Eric Jack Nash 03:30, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Science Olympiad

[edit]

Look, I don't want to start an edit war, but there is no reason not to include this information on Science Olympiad. As it is the article is a stub and needs to be expanded. This is the kind of national recognition/information they are looking for.Jesterjester 00:07, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Science Olympiad

[edit]

The guy who removed Science Olympiad before Arthur Rubin also made this vandalizing edit to the same page.

older edit by 71.65.64.42

I think this information is notable, and the only reason it was originally deleted is because that guy is biased against SO.Jesterjester 22:04, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Academics

[edit]

Maybe someone would be intrested in adding to our page how Centerville High School is reguarded as \"prestigious\" amongst other public schools of the area. . . etc. After all, the number one priority in any school is for the teachers to teach and the students to learn. If we forget to tell the world about the most important part of our school then what is to become of us? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.65.92.121 (talkcontribs) .

Yes, though I have nothing serious against nauseating embellishments of elitism such as the one on this page, I must point out that these \"accomplishments\" have been grossly exaggerated. Sure, Centerville pours thousands of dollars and hours to secure some dubious prestige of losing in the national Science Olympiad competition by overpowering less opulent schools; sure, the Elks exude the unmistakable aura of egotism by being one of the best schools in Midwestern backwater. This is comparable to Andorra declaring itself the largest nation in the Pyrenees or some ghetto wannabe declaring himself the \"koolest kat\" in his Puritan community - absolutely nothing. Someday these folks have to understand that Centerville is just one of those mediocre schools attempting to wrestle with the big league dogs, albeit unsuccessfully. Vanity and self-glorification will only look great on sites like this; chances are nobody gives a damn about the \"indefatigable\" Elks outside of southwestern Ohio. Hahaha, peace. 206.225.86.86 06:17, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Never read a more accurate description of Centerville, Ohio. I hope you escaped to the coast/major city and became an attorney, doctor, or tenured professor. Philosandgaming (talk) 08:36, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

To the dude above, how dare you comparing the glorious Centerville High School to puny states such as Andorra? A more appropriate comparison would've been Vatican City declaring itself the largest nation in Rome, or perhaps a prostitute declaring herself to be the cleanest on the street. Seriously, learn to use the right analogies before you post. Shabbat Shalom, bitches. 75.63.205.196 (talk) 20:45, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mark Yen

[edit]

Mark, as I went through CHS's edit history I noticed that you were the one that changed the picture. Please change it back as the schools seal is totally irrelevent. Thanks —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.65.92.121 (talk) 23:40, August 25, 2006 (UTC).

The old picture was moved down to discussion relevant to the North addition, and the seal is a good replacement for that; I don't know what you expect MY to put in its place --DinkY2K 04:21, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mark, when we are at school (since it started tuesday) why don't you simply take a photograph or I will and then upload it and place it as the schools picture. A picture of east or west would probably be better as the central unit is under construction. -T —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.65.92.121 (talk) 23:12, August 30, 2006 (UTC).

Hey, adding a current photograph of the school sounds like a great idea! It would definitely improve the article. But I can't agree with your opinion that the "seal is totally irrelevent". Most big articles about schools on Wikipedia have the school seal in the infobox. Check out these featured articles, for instance: Cornell University · Duke University · Hopkins School · Michigan State University · Stuyvesant High School · University of Michigan. I definitely think the photograph would be a good idea, but I think it would go better in the body of the article. Oh, and by the way, you can sign your posts automatically in the future by typing in four tildes (~~~~) --Mark Yen 22:13, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you want, i can upload the picture, and give you the name of the picture and you can add it in the place where you think it is most needed. Does that sound ok because I am not as farmiliar with wiki format as you are.

Use the broader view. Much more informative. --- 71.67.132.178 22:49, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox

[edit]

Anyone want to convert the current infobox to the Template:Infobox high school template? *is lazy* --- 71.67.132.178 23:06, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I used Template:Infobox Secondary school (before I saw your comment here). Is there a preference for the "high school" one? Hoof Hearted 15:50, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:CHS seal.gif

[edit]

Image:CHS seal.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Personal opinion

[edit]

I beleive that there should be a separate page for the Centerville jazz band, giving more specific information. just a personal opinion though. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.34.114.224 (talk) 18:46, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

F**k that s**t, comrade, no one cares about the high school, let alone some hillbilly backwater jazz band. 99.32.58.120 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 18:31, 8 October 2011 (UTC).[reply]
