Orphaned references in Carnival Vista

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Carnival Vista's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "vesseltracker":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 02:08, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think there needs to be some clarification on the Class Name for this vessel, I don't believe she will be a Vista-Class ship, like Holland America's Noordam, Westerdam, and like Cunard's Queen Victoria & Queen Elizabeth. --Yankeesman312 (talk) 01:34, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Edited lede

[edit]

I started an attempt to edit the poorly written and ad sounding lede. Seeing that most of the contents were duplicated in the article, irrelevant for a lede, or of dubious truth/currency (notably, making claims about the ships current and future status which are not consistent with the current date, which I would not have been able non-speculatively correct without additional research), I eventually settled for simply cutting most of the lede out.

If a reinstatement is made, please make sure to correct these problems!

Messina Marina 20 September

[edit]

Was this ship invoked in a accident at Messina Marina ? several youtube videos show this ship doing considerable damage to several other smaller boats

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3z_L-lGm3KU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7mo3mUXsXE http://www.cruiselawnews.com/2016/08/articles/collisions/carnival-vista-swamps-piers-and-boats-in-messina-sicily/

seams strange that there is no mention of this anywhere on this article — Preceding unsigned comment added by Phraze182 (talkcontribs) 04:28, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Beam (waterline)" reads 37.2 ft (11.3 m) (see the "General Characteristics" column). Both values are incorrect.

Correction: Beam: 37.2 m (122.0 ft) (waterline)

Misplaced Sentence

[edit]

The last sentence in the Home Port Section should be in the following incidents section, and is written in the wrong tense

Specific description: Under the incidents section, it states no problems have been reports with the propulsion system since 2022. This is now incorrect, as it's back down again for propulsion system work.

Please remove: As of June 2022, no further problems have been reported. Please add: The ship was reported to have propulsion issues again in August, 2024[1] Source: https://www.cruisehive.com/carnival-vista-being-removed-from-service-for-repairs/143048

Incidents

[edit]
Carnival Vista in Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Honduras on June 21, 2022.

In July 2019, when the vessel was underway to its call in Galveston, it temporarily lost power in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico.[1]

On 28 November 2019, seven passengers aboard Carnival Vista were on an independent bus tour in Belize when the bus crashed, resulting into two deaths and five injuries.[2]

On 6 March 2020, a man was charged in the alleged assault of a teenage boy aboard the ship.[3]

In May 2022, Carnival Vista began to experience propulsion issues which affected its maximum speed, similar to the incident in June 2019. Because of this some itineraries were altered while underway. No official announcement has been made by Carnival Cruise Line as of May 19, 2022. The company's brand ambassador John Heald made a statement that technicians would meet the ship in Galveston to fix the propulsion system.[4] The ship was reported to have propulsion issues again in August, 2024.[5] Xjohnx (talk) 11:59, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
