Is CEA equal to PSG2?
[edit]Untitled
[edit]CEA is listed as a alternative name for PSG2 by Entrez Gene (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=5670). Is PSG2 the gene coding for the protein described in this Wikipedia article? If not, what is the correct corresponding Entrez Gene entry?
Notice that there is a separate article on PSG2.
The section in this article titled "Genetics" suggests that CEA is a specific protein among other CEA related genes (and not a title for the whole group):
- "CEA and related genes make up the CEA family belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. In humans, the carcinoembryonic antigen family consists of 29 genes, 18 of which are normally expressed.[6]
- The following is a list of human genes which encode carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion proteins:
- CEACAM1, CEACAM3, CEACAM4, CEACAM5, CEACAM6, CEACAM7, CEACAM8, CEACAM16, CEACAM18, CEACAM19, CEACAM20, CEACAM21"
Note also that CEA is listed as the target for mAbs Arcitumomab and Labetuzumab.
Anyone out there an authority on this gene/protein? And can you identify the correct targets for the mAbs?
