Having read this page whilst seeking correct identification for this plant, I made further checks and WCSP (World Checklist for Selected Plants) confirm that the accepted name is still C.pallidus. M.pallida is still listed as a Synonym. The confirmation of this is the reference: [1] Additionally to that, I checked with the APG website: [2] and whilst they were not specific, they did not mention any significant changes to Callistemon and Melaleuca but they did cite another article by Edwards et al [3] which as the title suggests that there may need to be changes to this taxon. Whilst I confess I have not read the article in question, the original reviser stated that the 2006 paper by Craven proposes a change only. Also, having read Plantdrew's revision note, where he confesses that most sources still place it in Callistemon, I think that is sufficient to confirm that the revision be undone.
