Wrong name

[edit]

The article is titled wrong. Also, it makes no mention of being the Tampa Bay Devil Rays resident weirdo. Kazztawdal 04:54, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Brian Knobbs

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Brian Knobbs's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "bodyslamming":

  • From Jerry Sags: "Jerry Sags". BodySlamming.com. Retrieved 2008-03-27.
  • From Brian Gerard James: "BG James". Bodyslamming.com. Retrieved 2008-03-01.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 12:30, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Brian Knobs/Brian Knobbs

[edit]

Just a note for the Brian Knobs page, "Brian Knobs" is the correct/preferred spelling of his ringname. This is confirmed by an email enquiry I made personally via the Nasty Boys official website. His personal facebook page also confirms "Brian Knobs". Wf.the.assassin.wf (talk) 23:42, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Neither of those are reliable sources. All sources in the article say "Knobbs". Page moves should be discussed. InedibleHulk (talk) 01:12, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And you should sign your comments with your own username. InedibleHulk (talk) 03:33, 12 September 2012 (UTC) Nevermind, I see you've changed your name since posting that. InedibleHulk (talk) 03:46, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

To suggest those sources aren't reliable suggests either a lack of knowledge of wikipedia policies or some kind of personal vendetta against anyone challenging "established" information. Brian Knobs himself uses the spelling "Knobs" on his facebook profile (https://www.facebook.com/brian.knobs) AND on his website nastyknobs.com (currently down but accessible via internet archive here: http://web.archive.org/web/20100212202039/http://nastyknobs.com/), PLUS the Nasty Boys personal booking website quoted "Knobs" as the preferred spelling via an email enquiry. You can't get much more reliable than THE WRESTLER HIMSELF AND HIS AGENT! Just because certain information is common doesn't mean it's correct. I suggest you spend more time examining the reliability of your own references and less time thoughtlessly undoing other people's hard work. Wrestla1967 (talk) 20:28, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, if you were familiar with Wikipedia policies, you would know that third-party sources are considered more reliable than primary sources. If Brian Knobbs has forgotten how his ring name was spelled, that doesn't change the fact that he was billed in WWF and WCW as Brian Knobbs. The WWF website confirms this, as do many other reliable sources (including many news sites unrelated to wrestling, who have written about his connection to Hulk Hogan). In addition, the name displayed on screen and printed in magazines, programs, and VHS/DVD cases was Knobbs. Now, let's say for a minute that he decided to legally change his name to Brian Knobs...the article, and virtually every reference to him in the article and on Wikipedia as a whole, would still say Knobbs, because that is the name by which he is commonly known. Coleman is completely right. You have a similar problem with Kendall Windham. I appreciate that you added sources for his birth name, but these do not apply in the least to his ring name or to the article name (per WP:COMMONNAME) I've edited that article accordingly. Operatic Tenor?

[edit]

Does anyone have a citation for the claim that Brian Knobs is an operatic tenor? A quick Google came up empty... Toobad1205 (talk) 03:23, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
