Year of birth?

This article, until just now, had his birth year as c. 1510, but that and an earlier change to 1501 look like an undetected vandal. Encyclopaedia Britannica (current as well as 1911) has c. 1500. However, Chenevière 1885 mentions a marble plaque that says he was born in 1498, although I haven't read enough to know whether Chenevière goes on to dispute that.
