hi everybody i bharat pandey want to make some comment on the people who are repeatedly molding the fact about babhans/bhumihar brahmin. I just want to mention some of the historical fact about this community. Bhumihar brahmin name is quite new name to represent a community. It is a sanskrit word which literally means landholder brahmin. This name (bhumihar brahmin)came into existence in early 19th century AD in a meeting headed by kashi naresh (king of kashi). It was popularized by big babhan zamindars by opening some of the educational institution in the name of bhumihar brahmin. Langat singh college is an example of this phenomenon, it was named as bhumihar brahmin college. Before bhumihar brahmin name, this whole community was known by a single name that was babhan. Babhan is merely a pali word for brahmin which has been extensively used in ashokan edicts to refer magadh brahmins of that era. From this historical evidence it is evident that babhans were in magadh at the time of ashoka that is around 3rd century BC. British census in 1891 has documented babhan word for this community and listed them in aristocratic class of society. Mohyals of punjab are similar to babhans of magadh and they were also listed in aristocratic class in british era. Rajputs came to india around 6th century AD and some of them moved eastward at the time of advent of islamist force in western and north india i.e. around 12 century AD. Babhans were in magadh at the time of ashoka which is evident from the excavated materials of ashokan times and ashokan edicts. Ashoka ruled india around 3rd century BC. From the above historical chronology it is clearly evident that babhan is a distinct community and totally unrelated to rajputs. British census 1891 has clearly indicated that babhans of bihar constituted only 3 % of population of integrated bihar (bihar and jharkhand combined ) but they were holding aroung 45 % of the land. This lead british to classify babhans in aristocratic class of society. so i request everybody to put down the defamatory rumours or fake tales about babhan community from wikipedia. wikipedia is not a place to mention rumours, fake tales and derogatory comments. I also request everybody to take action against a wikipedia editor sitush (http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/User:Sitush) who is consistently involved in put up derogatory tales about babhan community. Most popular and widely accepted book on this community is written by swami shajanand saraswati. swami sahjanand saraswati was a nationalist. Government of india confers agriculture award in his name. Govt of india has also issued stamp in his name. so no body can question his credibility. swami ji has mentioned many historical facts about this community. swamij's book is an authentic book ( Swami Sahajanand Saraswati Rachnawali in Six volumes (in Volume 1 at p. 518, Parishist by Acharya Tarineesh Jha, 515-519). Prakashan Sansthan. ISBN 81-7714-097-3.), even authenticated by wikipedia. This editor is repeatedly deleting the materials from swamiji book and putting up the tales of aswani kumar. Any tale can not be considered as an origin of any community. There are many more derogatory tales about many communities in india. if all these derogatory tales put up on wikipedia will definitely lead tension among communities. so please let this editor understand this or ban him from editing. Aswani kumar book has mentioned about the communal violence by babhans. Involvement of any community in communal violence should be strongly condemned. But the author has made babhans culprit. He(aswani kumar) never mentioned about the senari massacre incident in which nearly 70 families of babhans were killed brutuly by maoist and lower caste. I went through his book and from his description it is evident that he is a communist and has written against upper caste landlords. He has not written the plight of landlord family. Anyone can go and find it in Bihar, jharkhand, orissa and chattisgarh. The devastation by maoist is totally known to everybody. Even govt is trying to root out this rust to society. So deeds of these (maoist) people is not at all justifiable.

hi buddy please take the materials of eminent historians like Christopher Alan Bayly (http://books.google.co.in/books?id=xfo3AAAAIAAJ&printsec=frontcover&dq=Christopher+Alan+Bayly+military+brahmin&hl=en&sa=X&ei=OgTaU-TYHdGNuAS5rIL4BA&ved=0CDoQ6AEwBg#v=onepage&q=bhumihar&f=false) to spread information about babhan/bhumihar brahmin . william crooke and swami sahjanand saraswati have also written much about bhumihar brahmin. Do not get struck to a biased book like Aswani kumar. He never wrote about the senari carnage in jahanabad which you will find in any good newspaper. More than 40 babhans were killed by slitting the throat by maoist. So killing has took place from both the side and making bhumihar/babhans culprit is a wrong judgement. Aswani kumar has just highlighted the plight of Dalit but he never has mentioned the killing led by them (dalits) in the name of maobad (maoism) which is also unethical in country like India. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bpandey89 (talkcontribs) 14:46, 3 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
