Here in Russia Shirokograd isn't reputed to be an authoritative source. Actually he's a liar.128.75.169.48 (talk) 07:56, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why do I think that the design could not have been influenced by Lahti, since the development UB is earlier? Anyone have an opinion? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.247.118.234 (talk) 08:56, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"used by the vast majority of Soviet aircraft of WW2"?

[edit]

"The UB in all variants was used by the vast majority of Soviet military aircraft of World War II."

Was it really? I was under the impression that the ShKAS was far more commonly used and the UB only was substituted in the late war variants of the aircraft. Maybe if you are measuring by total aircraft produced during the war and the number of aircraft fitted with the UB, because they pumped out such huge numbers of some of the late war fighter variants. But none of the Lavochkin fighters hit the UB until well into production of the Ka-7, the Yaks started with ShKAS, I don't think any of the bombers used them until they were modified later, none of the transports or liaison or reconnaissance or training aircraft. So I don't know about a "vast majority". Idumea47b (talk) 19:54, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, ShVAK. Always get those backwards. Idumea47b (talk) 20:17, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
