Birth year

The article has a birth year of 1677, but I don't see any specific citation supporting that year.

I didn't find any that stated 1677 (except for one caption).

We either need a solid reference supporting 1677 (and explaining why 1681 or 1682 are wrong), or we need to rewrite the birth year.--S Philbrick(Talk) 21:22, 14 August 2017 (UTC)

I added three more sources. In my opinion 1681 seems like a much more likely date so I am changing the article to reflect that but of course anyone who can provide solid evidence that 1677 is better is free to provide the evidence and change it back.--S Philbrick(Talk) 21:34, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
Pinging User:Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ), who changed the DOB with the edit summary 1677 according to reference. This source supports 1677 but was not in the article at the time the DOB was changed. (A ref actually in the article at that time mentioning 1677 as a DOB is this source, but that was in reference to his late wife.)    FDMS  4    03:23, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
1677 came from the Dictionary of National Biography. Wikidata has the various dates and the references for each. Curiously the German Wikipedia has an exact date but the reference is not obvious. 1681 is overwhelming by the sheer number of sources, until a primary document comes along like a baptism. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 03:53, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
His newly published biography says 1682 so I have put this in the article. Thincat (talk) 22:38, 10 February 2018 (UTC)

Added a photograph of Benjamin Lay's gravestone to Wikimedia Commons

Gravestone of Benjamin Lay and Sarah Lay

Hi everyone! I recently passed by the Abington Friends meeting house and took photos of the new PA Historical and Museum Commission marker and the gravestone of Benjamin and Sarah Lay. I added the historical marker to the article, but I wasn't sure if it made sense to include the grave marker. In case someone finds it useful for future edits, the link to the image is here.
