Ben Cartwright (actor) → Ben Cartwright – The target is currently a DAB page with two entries, one of which is a non-notable fictional character. Clearly, this individual is the primary topic. — Anonymous 00:44, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose, the "non-notable" fictional character is a very well-known fictional character, the father of several sons in the famous TV series Bonanza. There seems to be a lack of generational knowledge in several recent nominations such as this. Randy Kryn (talk) 05:50, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Support. The only article actually titled "Ben Cartwright" is this one. The other is merely a redirect that gets only 8 views per day compared to 68 for this article. Since the dab page, with only those 2 entries, averages 37 hits per day, it's clear that the actor is the WP:primary topic in a WP:ONEOTHER situation. The character's redirect could be added as a hatnote to this article so the minority looking for the Bonanza character would not be inconvenienced any more than they are now, while the majority of the 37 can skip the dab page. - Oppose. Pageviews are not the right metric to compare a redirect vs. an article, because the article will get hits from various sources that the redirect isn't eligible for (e.g. Google search results). If you include the actual page that the redirect takes you to, it dwarfs everything else. Now, the reality is somewhere in between 8 and 271 hits per day, but pageview data can only take us so far. Instead, clickstream data shows the proportion of people who navigate to different links from the disambiguation page, and List of Bonanza characters is a winner here. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 08:43, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- The pageview data for January agrees with the clickstream data that the Ben Cartwright dab page had about 1400 hits. However, the clickstream data shows only 575 outgoing clicks, 40% of which appear to be for Lorne Greene or Bonanza, neither of which is listed on the dab page. Do we know why? Station1 (talk) 23:50, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. The character is too well-known for this relatively minor actor to be primary per long-term significance. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:22, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
