Quote Issue

[edit]

The quote "The maneuver is in modern times taught in many military colleges around the world as an example of blitzkrieg-like offensive executed in the times before the advent of tank warfare[3][4]." (note the citations) Tanks were used in WWI (1914-1918) and this battle took place in 1920, obviously tank warfare was in existence (either the quote is wrong or misunderstood).--72.140.175.249 15:16, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Check the article on tank warfare to get the general idea. In short, usage of tanks on the battlefield is not yet a tank warfare.

It was not until late 1920s that the tanks started to be considered a separate force rather than mobile MG nests used to support the infantry. And it was not until WWII that mechanized warfare was put into action. Interestingly, one of the first operations in which the tanks and armoured cars were used independently of infantry took place also in Poland, also in 1920 :) //Halibutt 17:14, 1 March 2007 (UTC) 17:13, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
