Basavaraj Bommai ministry → Bommai ministry – All ministries' have been named after the leader's last name only. So this should also follow the norm. I know his father S. R. Bommai too held the post but needless to say his notability is far less than his son's. Even the page views of these pages tell the same. Once we move this article, then we can put a hatnote to redirect to S. R. Bommai ministry, if need be. Appu (talk) 15:32, 12 October 2021 (UTC)

  I don't know if there is a WP: article regarding this, but as far as the common practice I have observed is concerned, it is always lastname ministry. Some examples are Nehru ministry, Shastri ministry, First Yediyurappa ministry, Vajpayee ministry or Modi ministry. Although there are some examples with article name such as Indira Gandhi ministry and Rajiv Gandhi ministry, but the notability of both Gandhis is not as lopsided as the Bommais. So this seems a valid to reason to assign Bommai ministry to Basavaraj. Appu (talk) 05:59, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

  Oppose: @Appu:You may have proposed this thinking that S. R. Bommai was a Chief Minister for just 8 months. But S. R. Bommai ministry was more popular than many ministries who completed 5 year term. Reason being that his government was dismissed by the then Governor claiming that his government had lost its majority despite Bommai had sought some time he was denied. He challenged this order in the Supreme Court., where the Court discussed the provisions of Article 356 and framed guidelines to dismiss a state government under Article 356. This case had huge impact on Centre-State Relations. Instances of imposition of President's rule have reduced after this judgement.. Please read article S. R. Bommai v. Union of India for more info on landmark judgment of the Supreme Court of India for more info. See these links where dismissal of S. R. Bommai ministry is quoted multiple times in different scenarios across many places in different Timelines.[1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7], [8], [9]. Hence you cannot claim that notability of S. R. Bommai ministry is far less than his son's. If you still feel that Notability of Basavaraj Bommai ministry is more than S. R. Bommai ministry just because it is an incumbent Ministry, we can say that once Basavaraj Bommai completes his term, popularity of S. R. Bommai ministry will continue to be better referred since the case will continued to be referred during unjustified/intended President's Rule and mass defections from parties. When it comes to naming conventions, we do have many examples where lastname ministry is not followed. Jai Ram Thakur ministry of Himachal Pradesh cannot be named as Thakur ministry since we already have another page Karpoori Thakur ministry of Bihar. Same with Second Pema Khandu ministry of Arunachal Pradesh. Despite being the only Ministry page of Arunachal Pradesh, we can remember that his father Dorjee Khandu was also a Chief Minister. If we name Second Pema Khandu ministry as Khandu ministry, an ambiguity will arise when someone creates a Page to list ministers working under Dorjee Khandu. Same with Meghalaya where Conrad Sangma ministry is the incumbent Council of ministers and his father P. A. Sangma and Congress's Mukul Sangma shared same surname. We can see the same surnames (Reddy) in the List of chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh and we have 2 Wiki pages, one for incumbent CM Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy ministry and another one for last CM of United Andhra Pradesh N. Kiran Kumar Reddy ministry.   Looking at the Category:Indian ministries, it doesn't seem to have a set convention of naming. Either way, in cases of potentially same titles, I think disambiguating with the main article title seem to be very neutral. — DaxServer (talk to me) 15:53, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

Repetitive lists of ministers and portfolios

@Vijethnbharadwaj, you've reverted thrice now keeping in a repetitive table just to add a constituency column. Two editors (pinging MN Shenoy) have disagreed with you now. Constituencies are available in individual articles already. The information is also available in 2018_Karnataka_Legislative_Assembly_election in a tabular form. The district wise breakup, also in the article, shows the geographic distribution in sufficient detail. Can you please say why information needs repetition in such manner?
