BNS Durjoy (2012) → BNS Durjoy (2013) – The ship was commissioned in 2013. Why should it be named after the year of launch? Is it a mobile phone or similar product? ― ☪ Kapudan Pasha (🧾 - 💬) 14:30, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose Contravenes WP:NCS . Ship is correctly dabbedLyndaship (talk) 14:48, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Lyndaship I requested this per WP:SHIPDAB, as the ship's acquisition by the Bangladesh Navy, along with its commissioning, both took place in 2013. I would like to quote the following line: In instances where a ship was captured or otherwise acquired by a navy or shipping company, or simply renamed, and the article is placed at that title, use the date that is in agreement with the name and prefix (such as the date of capture or entry to the navy or fleet, or the date of the renaming) rather than the date of launch. ― ☪ Kapudan Pasha (🧾 - 💬) 17:32, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- Acquisition means when it was previously owned by another entity. Durjoy has always been a Bangladeshi ship (albeit built by a Chinese shipyard). I refer you to WP:NCS
For a ship that does not have a hull and pennant number, and especially when more than one ship had the name, disambiguate the article name with the ship's launch year
- BNS Durjoy (P811) would be fine but generally South Asian ships articles tend to use year launched for the dab Lyndaship (talk) 18:12, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
