Recent edit about early life
[edit]Hi User:Dagamerzat, welcome to Wikipedia, I see this is your first edit. A great improvement! That said, do you have a source for that great info? It'll get edited out by someone quickly if there is no source for the info. It seems like you're new to wikipedia so if you need help with formatting or editing, please say. - My bad I didn't see this. A lot of this are records I have gathered throughout the years. He was my grandfather and I have books records and pictures of him. Thank you very much for correcting me on the non source info. Some of it I don't have much of a source other than from his children's and grandchildren's account as well as a family genealogy book that was made in the early 2000's. - Here's a few of the records I have. His marriage: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939K-YC9W-W?i=827&cc=1784216&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3A2784-GF1
- His birth date and parents on the 1901 Canadian census: https://www.ancestry.ca/discoveryui-content/view/11934751:8826
- If you want I could also take a picture of the genealogy book I have with his parents, grandparents, and children. Sadly the book is not sourced but all of the info is 1st or 2nd hand. Dagamerzat (talk) 06:26, 22 May 2023 (UTC)
copyvios
[edit]Hello
I have removed copyvio photos from the article. They are clearly an infringement and not in the public domain as claimed. I suggest going to Commons and requesting deletion. The other two might be family snapshots which might be more acceptable, but still complicated. Where did you get them from @Dagamerzat? Slp1 (talk) 16:38, 20 June 2023 (UTC)
- Passed down through my family. I was given them from my Grandmother. Sorry about the copyright stuff. I'm new to wikipedia and not quite sure how to do stuff Dagamerzat (talk) 20:14, 20 June 2023 (UTC)
- You might own the physical copy of the photo, but not the copyright. CT55555(talk) 21:12, 20 June 2023 (UTC)
- Don't worry. Copyright stuff is hard and very confusing. The problem is that even those old family pictures are in copyright for many years after the death of the photographer and since the photographer is not known, their death is not known either. I think the easiest thing to do will be to choose one of the two family pictures and upload it to English Wikipedia (not commons) using a fair use rationale. See WP:NFC and in particular WP:NFCI using the "Pictures of deceased persons, in articles about that person, provided that ever obtaining a free close substitute is not reasonably likely" rationale. They are a bit fussy about wording of the rationale for why a fair use needs to be claimed. I am no expert but if you upload the picture to this wikipedia, I will take a look and fix up the rationale if needed. You should also go to Commons and request deletion of all the pictures there saying you made a mistake and they are probably under copyright. --Slp1 (talk) 15:56, 21 June 2023 (UTC)
- I think I understand. Yet I don't understand? Could I send you the pictures via email for one of you to upload? I do not know how uploading to wikimedia works. Dagamerzat (talk) 07:01, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
