Very incomplete
[edit]Rather a light weight article for something so important. Note that it glides over the actual wording for Area C, which gave functional control to the Palestinians: “Area C . . . will be gradually transferred to Palestinian jurisdiction in three phases, each to take place after an interval of six months, to be completed 18 months after the inauguration of the Council.”
The Council was inaugurated in March of 1996. By October of 1997, Israel was in flagrant violation of Oslo.
"Territorial jurisdiction includes land, subsoil and territorial waters, in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement."
"in Area C, the Council will have functional jurisdiction with regard to the powers and responsibilities transferred pursuant to this Annex. "
"In Area C, powers and responsibilities related to the sphere of Planning and Zoning will be transferred gradually to Palestinian jurisdiction that will cover West Bank and Gaza Strip territory except for the issues that will be negotiated in the permanent status negotiations, during the further redeployment phases, to be completed within 18 months from the date of the inauguration of the Council."

- Good point Mcdruid. Can you find a WP:SECONDARY source stating this? If so, please do add it in to the article. Onceinawhile (talk) 07:39, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
- As usual, not quite that straightforward, first the Hebron redeployment was delayed and then Netanyahu was elected, after which things became even messier as he was a well known Oslo sceptic. Of course, all kinds of reasons were adduced for not carrying out the promised redeployments. Geoffrey Watson's https://academic.oup.com/book/36110/chapter-abstract/313591998?redirectedFrom=fulltext is a decent source. Selfstudier (talk) 13:49, 1 April 2023 (UTC)
