Mater, or membrane?
[edit]I don't believe that the arachnoid layer is properly called a "mater". The dura and pia layers are because they were translated directly from Arabic into Latin, while the arachnoid is a Greek word from a separate derivation. I think the name of the article should be "arachnoid". --Mauvila 15:34, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
But I concede that the TA calls it a 'mater'. --Mauvila 20:45, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
It should not be considered a mater. I agree Interiorcamping (talk) 20:48, 9 June 2013 (UTC)
I agree. MAGoldberg 18:27, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
I also agree, and generally refer to it as a membrane, does that sound right to others? (also added a title to this section, which didn't originally have one at all; hope that's ok & works) UnderEducatedGeezer (talk) 23:04, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
