Invitation to editors
[edit]I just created this page and I know it needs work. If you can contribute sources or more info that would be great. All sections need expansion, especially the history one. And if anyone wants to add some stuff about punk's place w/in anarchism and animal rights, that would be great too. Thanks. The Ungovernable Force 08:35, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
- Also, I wanted to add the "Anarchism" and "Animal Liberation Movement" templates but had trouble with formatting. If anyone can do it without making the formatting horrible, that would be awesome. The Ungovernable Force 08:37, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, and more discussion as to the philosophy(ies) behind this position. The Ungovernable Force 08:49, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
Source request
[edit]Could we have a source, please, for: "[Anarchists] usually describe the struggle for the liberation of non-human animals as a natural outgrowth of the struggle for human freedom." Cheers, SlimVirgin (talk) 16:11, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hi UF, thanks for finding that. The problem is that it seems to be a personal website, which we can't use as a source. See WP:V and WP:RS. Can you find a more reliable source like a book by an academic, or a newspaper article? Even an anarchist's group website might be good enough, so long as it's not a personal site. SlimVirgin (talk) 06:23, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
- Dang, I'll try. This is one of the problems with wiki though in my opinion, I mean, ask a group of anarchists and most of them will agree to that, why do we have to go find some random thing on the internet or in a book that says that (how many books do you honestly think have been written about this anyways, especially easy to find ones?) I mean, c'mon, at some point common sense should be enough for a cite as long as there isn't a controversy. Nothing against you, just the policy. Whatever, I'll see what I can do. - Ok, I won't remove it, because I take your point, but if you come across a cite on your travels, it would be appreciated. :-) SlimVirgin (talk) 06:46, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
- I added two essays from CrimethInc., both of which actually take the opposite approach--they look at the obvious exploitation of animals and then link it to how humans are exploited as well. So they can't really be cites for that quote, but they do show that (at least some) anarchist groups look at the issues as interrelated and stemming from one another.
