Maine?

[edit]

Where is the evidence to support Amity being in Maine? In the books it's clearly on Long Island Sound. --Dunkelza 15:09, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Amityville, New York?

[edit]

It seems clear to me that the reason Benchley named it "Amity Island" is that the place is supposed to represent this friendly, peaceful, happy place, which turns out to be entirely the opposite because of the Great White attacks, and the surrounding political and personal conflicts and issues.

Maybe I'm crazy, though...

Island in the Book?

[edit]

Where does it say Amity is an island in the novel? I'm reading the novel right now, and I don't remember any reference at all to Amity being an island. It's referred to as a town in Long Island. So unless I've somehow overlooked it, I don't think Amity is an island in the novel. I'm going to see if anyone can substantiate that it's an island in the novel, but if not I may change it. --JamesAM 19:11, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
