Episode section lengths

[edit]

Okay, either the sections need to be shorter, as they are summaries, or the episode pages need to be longer. It appears the summaries here are exact duplicates of the episode articles. I would rather see this than lengthy paragraphs that tell everything the articles say. This article is about right. Thoughts? — Wyliepedia 04:17, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'll be reviewing. TRLIJC19 (talk) 23:30, 8 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to read through the article and list any existent issues below. But at a first glance, it looks like a generally well written piece. TRLIJC19 (talk) 00:12, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Issues

[edit]
  • Reference production codes on the table of episodes.
Done Removing them because they aren't important and are each used in the episode articles.
  • Add more to development history if more information is available by researching.
Done I've merged the two sections, as they can go together. TRLIJC19 (talk) 02:29, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • In this sentence in development history, "In July 2011, FX officially announced the project had been picked up to series.", I don't understand what you mean by "picked up to series".
 Done
  • Reference the statement under the picture of the house in filming.
 Done
  • This article is filled with information, yet the lead is terribly short and lacking in information. The lead should be a general summary of the article and does not need to be referenced, as it is right now. All information in the lead should be included in the article, so refs shouldn't be necessary. Add basic information from the sections of the article to the lead.
 Done
  • The opening to the second paragraph in the lead should specify that you are talking about the first season and not the series in whole.
 Done
  • In the poster's picture summary, fix the red link to FX.
 Done
  • Refs 2, 3, 4, and 24 should be expanded.
 Done
  • Any awards or accolades for this season? If there is a substantial amount, add a section on that under reception, before reviews. If there's only a few, add it to the review subsection perhaps. If not any at all, disregard.
 Done
  • Under plot, in this sentence, "On arrival, they learn that the previous owners of their new mansion – a gay couple – apparently died in a murder/suicide.", it should say "...new mansion, a gay couple, apparently...". Note the commas instead of dashes.
 Done
  • Under plot, in this sentence, "The house also 'comes with' Moira O'Hara...", "comes with" should have quotation marks around it instead of apostrophes.
 Done
  • Under plot, fourth line down in second paragraph, in this sentence, "...course of its history – so much so that it is known...", again use a comma not a dash.
 Done
  • Under plot, fourth paragraph last line, in this sentence, "...and Violet (whose body is never found) ran away with the baby....", use commas around 'whose body is never found' instead of parentheses.
 Done

I am putting the review on hold so the nominator can assess the problems. Please fix these issues within seven (7) days and then I'll continue on with the review. To make it easier for me, I would prefer that after you fix each issue, you put the "done" template ( Done) ({{done}}) after it or the "not done" ( Not done) ({{notdone}}) template but explaining why you didn't make the change. Looking forward to finishing the review. TRLIJC19 (talk) 00:12, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Volunteers?

[edit]

Now that the season has been officially named American Horror Story: Murder House. Who's gonna do the official move to the now-official title, as well as move ALL "Season 1" Wikimedia? Not I ! — Wyliepedia 23:50, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that's a good idea. Although they've said that's the new title, I've yet to actually see it used anywhere. The on-screen title was just American Horror Story and the DVDs still say "first season". So unless they reissue the DVD set with the new title, I'd say "season one" is still the common name. --DocNox (talk) 05:44, 23 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cast section

[edit]

I'm growing tired of the edit wars regarding how many episodes each person has been in. I have not seen any Wiki-standard which says this information is warranted and should fall under WP:INDISCRIMINATE. I vote we merge those mentioned into the Plot section (most are already there) and remove this eyesore landmine. Support, Decline or Discuss. — Wyliepedia 07:54, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

PAAFTJ awards

[edit]

The awards are fake, self-established by a Wordpress user. No serious media take them for real in fact, or mention them, and they should be removed from the article in the first place. MiewEN (talk) 05:39, 23 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Critical reception

[edit]

This article makes out that AHS is a very well received show when in fact it has been mocked for it's numerous flaws and poor writing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.46.78.108 (talk) 04:22, 1 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

American Horror Story: Murder HouseAmerican Horror Story (season 1) – I could be wrong, but I don't ever remember there ever being a subtitle for this season when it aired 5 years ago only because it was the first one. 2601:8C:4001:DCF4:20F7:43F8:88A7:2E0F (talk) 16:18, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No, it was given the official subtitle after airing. LLArrow (talk) 20:33, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect recurring actress

Can someone please remove actress Christian Serratos from "Recurring", as she is not. IP is not backing down. LLArrow (talk) 00:42, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

American Horror Story: Murder HouseAmerican Horror Story (season 1) – Fan dubbed name, name not given on any promotional material or boxset etc. "Murder House" is used widely, I accept, but Netflix is not what decides the name of the season, and no source is given stating the season is officially renamed Murder House, previous Washington Post source explicitly say that Murder House is the official name, only it sports that name (by whom, fans or FX, it doesn't state). TedEdwards 22:35, 16 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose - There appear to be enough reliable sources which refer to the season as "Murder House". I found several looking for season ranking articles, but also searching for keywords: EW 2014, EW 2015, NY times 2015, Variety 2016). Even if "Murder House" is mostly fan-dubbed, it seems to have become at least somewhat accepted more widely. Enough at least so that we can continue to follow WP:TVSEASON and keep a consistent season naming scheme across the entire series (in this case, using "subtitles" instead of parenthetical). -- Netoholic @ 07:15, 17 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
But if the subtitle isn't official, surely it's more important to use the parenthetical than to follow WP:TVSEASON. After all, WP:TVSEASON is a guideline only and it states there may be occassional exceptions may apply. That's not to say guidelines are optional though, they should be followed wherever possible, but I think this should be an exception as "Murder House" is fan-dubbed. It's also not jounalists who decide the name of the season. TedEdwards 15:27, 17 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Correct, its not fans or journalists that determine the title, nor is any "official name" necessarily used to determine it. We title our articles based on the most common name for the topic in English. WP:TVSEASON is based on WP:NATURALDIS (with a splash of WP:CONSISTENCY. The idea being that even if seasons vary in how they are referred, that we use a consistent pattern for them all to aid editors and readers. So, even if "Murder House" isn't the most common (or subjective the most "correct"), it is common enough to be useful for naming purpose. -- Netoholic @ 17:01, 17 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - I will not look for sources, because i believe that above were provided, however FX Latin America credits it as "Murder House". Here i contribute a promo of the series, it is in Spanish.--Philip J Fry / talk 15:46, 17 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
