- Not seeing the link at present (the above was posted a year ago) but if it is on a newspaper website it is almost certainly copyrighted. There are other possible sources. Coretheapple (talk) 17:59, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

Alvin "Shipwreck" Kelly → Shipwreck Kelly (pole sitter) – The current name is contrary to the WP:NICKNAME advice to "avoid ... adding a nickname ... in quotes between first and last name. For example: Bill Clinton, not William "Bill" Clinton.
" But we probably can't move it to Shipwreck Kelly because there is also a football player known by that name. —BarrelProof (talk) 02:40, 29 December 2014 (UTC)
- Comment – I'm not so sure. WP:NICKNAME says avoid things like William "Bill" Clinton; you'd never see that in sources, but Alvin "Shipwreck" Kelly is very common just like that, in books and web pages. It looks to me like the present title may be OK, and more recognizable, natural, and concise than the proposed alternative. Dicklyon (talk) 06:05, 29 December 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose - Despite discourage, this is an exception due to reliable sources using the current name often. There is Robert John "Mutt" Lange, whose name was disputed twice. --George Ho (talk) 07:38, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose per comments above. Coretheapple (talk) 15:23, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose per @Dicklyon: - I made the same point at the RM for Talk:Shipwreck Kelly. The nickname in quotes provides the best disambiguator for these two, as they are very commonly referred to that way. — Amakuru (talk) 11:51, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
- Support per nom, or move to Alvin Kelly. The only other person listed on that dab is a list entry who would probably never have his own article. --BDD (talk) 15:37, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
