I have looked at and compared the the actual texts of "Mahoba Khand" (Parmal Raso as named by Shyamsunder Das), "Alha Khand" of Lalita Prasad Mishra and "Lay of Alha". Mahoba Khand is clearly much older, perhaps older than what Shyamsunder Das estimates, since the language has some Apabhramsha characteristics. "Alha Khand" of Lalita Prasad Mishra (he claims it to be his original composition) and "Lay of Alha" are apparently based on the same source. Malaiya (talk) 02:04, 31 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Bhavishya Purana, of uncertain period, also gives a version of the story of Alha.
