[edit]I suggest this topic might usefully be integrated into Western Sahara and this page mad a redirect to that new section? The UN and western Sahara#Baker Plan described there would then make better sense, and also be easier to maintain perhaps?Timpo (talk) 11:01, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
removing and reformulating article
[edit]This article must be deeply reformulated for multiple reasons, 1- it contains false informations, 2- it's a kind of Algerian propaganda 3- it'ignore the moroccan point of view 4- many major events are not mentioned
4.1/ Major event ignored in article = War of sands (1963) When morocco and Algeria gets their independence, the issue was not western sahara but territories of Bechar and Tindouf (called eastern sahara by morocco), which have been claimed by morocco for their moroccan history, and for ties between moroccan king and tribes from those regions, but were annexed by France to it's colony Algeria in 1903 & 1934. After France withdraw from territory in 1962, Algeria refused to restore those 2 territories to morocco, the war of sands began when Algeria attacked "ich" which is a moroccan post control near Oujda. The war finished after african union's mediation, the borders between the two countries returned to statut quo before the war.
Source : See page 129 of book "guerres et paix au Maroc" : reportages, 1950-1990 Par Attilio Gaudio
2/ Algeria has never backed Morocco to recover a land, in the conflict of Persil Island, all arabs countries supported morocco except Algeria.
3/ in 1975, Algeria supported the creation of an independent state in western sahara, not self determination of western sahara people. Algeria recongnized RASD in spite of that no referendum has taken place until now.

[edit]@Sayuuuto: can you: a) explain why it's relevant to this article and b) justify the addition of this baseless WP:OR (In July 2024, France's stance on Western Sahara sparked tension between Algeria and Morocco.
). M.Bitton (talk) 10:40, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
- a) it is relevant on the same way the whole title 'Western Sahara' is relevant to the article. If it is not relevant, I believe the whole section should be deleted. The fact that Algeria called its ambassador in France because of Western Sahara conflict is a direct result of tensions between Morocco and Algeria. If you don't consider the fact that Algeria is talking about Morocco in its official diplomatic websites as something that should belong in this page, I don't know what is.
- b) This is not a baseless WP:OR, I provided reliable sources. both published secondary sources and official sources from both Algerian and Moroccan authorities. I suggest you to reread the definition of WP:OR.
- I think that since you are clearly biased in this topic we should have the opinion of someone else. Sayuuuto (talk) 10:55, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
- This article is not about Western Sahara.
In July 2024, France's stance on Western Sahara sparked tension between Algeria and Morocco
this is WP:OR that you used to justify the inclusion of the unrelated content. It's also nonsensical given that the tension between Algeria and Morocco is not new and Algeria broke the diplomatic relations with Morocco as a result of it.I think that since you are clearly biased
what does that make you? M.Bitton (talk) 10:57, 1 August 2024 (UTC)This article is not about Western Sahara.
It is about the relations between Algeria and Morocco, and there is a section called 'Western Sahara' which a main topic that defines the relations between those two countries. If you're not Okay with this fact you should go and delete the whole section.this is WP:OR that you used to justify the inclusion of the unrelated content.
it is not WP:OR, it did spark tensions. the algerian foreign minister even said that france 'doesn't own anything' and morocco is a country that 'doesn't deserve' https://embmoscow.mfa.gov.dz/fr/news-and-press-releases/frances-recognition-of-alleged-moroccan-sovereignty-over-western-sahara-is-a-gift-from-someone-who-doesnt-own-to-someone-who-doesnt-deservewhat does that make you?
I said that we should have the opinion of someone else based on your history of systematic deleting of anything morocco related. Sayuuuto (talk) 11:16, 1 August 2024 (UTC)- Just because there is a "Western Sahara" section doesn't mean that everything that is related to it belongs there. The topic is the relations between Algeria and Morocco.
- It's 100% WP:OR.
- You accused me of being
biased
and now, you're doubling down on your aspersions. M.Bitton (talk) 11:20, 1 August 2024 (UTC)- You are clearly being biased and that’s why I’m suggesting to have the opinion of someone else. I don’t know why you are being triggered by this, it is a legitimate thing to ask.
- as the rest of your answer I don’t know what you mean, but you’re probably trying to accuse me of something because you’re feeling triggered.
- I think we both agree that we can’t go anyway with this discussion without someone with higher authority. 93.22.150.67 (talk) 11:29, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
- I've had enough of you aspersion casting. You will simply be ignored. M.Bitton (talk) 11:30, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
- Typical http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Editor_Retention/Reasons_editors_leave
- If only Wikipedia had some way to report such actions. Sayuuuto (talk) 14:32, 1 August 2024 (UTC)

Western Sahara
[edit]Hello, I think that western sahara related topics should be here. So I wanted to add this :
"In July 2024, France's stance on Western Sahara sparked tension between Algeria and Morocco. On July 30, French President Emmanuel Macron officially announced to King Mohammed VI that France considers Western Sahara's future to be "within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty". Macron described Morocco's 2007 autonomy plan as "the only basis for achieving a political solution"[1][2][3][4].
In response, Algeria immediately recalled its ambassador to France. Algeria's Foreign Ministry criticized France's position as supporting "the colonial fact in Western Sahara" and violating "international legality". This incident highlighted the ongoing sensitivity of the Western Sahara issue in North African relations and its impact on regional diplomacy[5][6]."
I don't understand how this is unrelated to the topic?
Thank you Sayuuuto (talk) 10:41, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
- Start by answering the questions that I asked above about your addition of WP:OR to justify the inclusion of unrelated content (btw, this article is not about Western Sahara). M.Bitton (talk) 10:43, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
