'Lost' election to a (fellow) Conservative?
[edit]I query the statement he lost his last general election to a man who was of the same party as himself. Surely a mistake unless he had turned coat to another party or gone independent?Cloptonson (talk) 22:10, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
- Looks like a mistake. Per our article Southampton was a 2-member constituency. Though Chamberlayne topped the poll it was the Liberal Party's Francis Evans that took the second seat and hence displaced Giles. I have corrected this in the article - Dumelow (talk) 07:53, 20 June 2018 (UTC)
