The best Polish pianist

[edit]

In the article, it was stated that Mikulska was awarded “The best Polish pianist” award at the 2005 Chopin Competition. This is obviously not true, as this competition was won by a Pole, Rafał Blechacz. This may be due to an imprecise translation from Polish. The Polish name of the prize is “Nagroda dla najlepszej polskiej pianistki”, and “pianistka” translates to “a pianist” but in Polish, it refers specifically to a female pianist (as opposed to “pianista” which can refer both to a male pianist and to a pianist in general). So, this prize was actually for the best Polish female pianist.

The referenced source also provides this inaccurate information, unfortunately. I have added the direct source (archived competition website), in Polish. Piotr5wiki (talk) 23:54, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
