Disputable death circumstances

[edit]

I have raised a citation need against the stated death years (two different ones both in 1980s), the infobox mentions no death place. His article in Greek wikipedia states he was arrested by the Germans in 1942 because of his Jewish origins and all accounts disappear, although it surmises he was put to death (common fate of those arrested by the Nazis) or survived the Second World to emigrate. Sources that give a firm death date and place ought to be sought and added.Cloptonson (talk) 09:34, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have looked up the Yad Vashem 'Testimony Pages' list of Jews resident in Greece who were known to have been killed in the Holocaust. The nearest named individual is Alberto Nachmias (sic), born in Greece, age given as 42, death place Auschwitz but no death year given. Note Yad Vashem (at 2015) had some 4.5M names on its database out of the estimated 6M Jews killed in the Holocaust.Cloptonson (talk) 18:42, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Cloptonson: Is there incorrect information in the article? Also, this interview here in French, shows one Albert Nahmias from the same location, (Thessaloniki) has a different birth and age completely, if that's the guy then he was clearly still alive after the war. My French isn't the best, I tried to understand, but I only understand small bits of the interview. I think you need someone French to review it. If not the same person, it's highly possible this person is related given the name and loc. Something to look into regards. Govvy (talk) 09:04, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have looked up the interview - this man is ten years younger than the footballer and he omits any mention of playing when surely it would be a signficant memory if he was in the position of playing for Greece. I am inclined to discount him as a candidate for identification with the player, who was anyway Thessaloniki-born.Cloptonson (talk) 10:26, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
albert Nahmias est décédé en 2004
je suis sa fille et j'aurai souhaité qu'une rue porte son nom à Salonique
