Plot Synopsis
Is anyone willing to write a plot synopsis? Zephyrprince 06:31, 25 August 2005 (UTC)
Song Titles
I don't know anything about writing articles for Broadway shows, so maybe it's just an idiosyncrasy in the category, but I find the song titles in parentheses to be weird. Is it intentional, or are they actually supposed to be in brackets ([[ ]]) to make them into links? I didn't want to change something that's supposed to be there... --Ecurran 04:14, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
The songs are in () to tell you which song is going on in that time of the story. Rather, what song that lets you know what's going on. -broadwayblonde
Yeah, but there are some continuity issues. I've seen some plot synopses where they capitalize the song titles. I think that would be better and when the song title fits into the sentence the parenthesis aren't needed. I'm going to make those changes. If it pisses anyone off too much they can change it. It's just a minor thing and it'll make the synopsis (which is very well-written, props to whoever wrote it) a little more readable. Lmr5069 03:51, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
Hello - I'm the one who put the song titles in the parentheses. The synopsis had seemed to be lifted entirely off http://www.theatre-musical.com/aida/synopsis.html, so I put the songs in where that website said the songs went. I double checked the accuracy using the libretto, the link to which I posted at the bottom. Fortune Favors the Brave (Reprise) was not on the theatre-musical site, but it was in the libretto, so I added it. I hope it helped, but feel free to change it if you think it looks weird. I've never edited Wikipedia before.
I don't know what to sign off as, so I'll just say "Anonymous".
Copyright violation in plot synopsis
The plot synopsis appears to have been entirely lifted from [1]. I'm removing it from the page; it will remain in the page history if someone wants to attempt to get permission to use it. See Wikipedia:Copyright_violations and Wikipedia:Requesting_copyright_permission. --ArthurDenture 02:22, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Amateur Productions
Just in regards to the Amateur Productions section - is it really necessary to list every association and high school that has made an amateur production of the musical? Amateur productions of musicals are quite a common thing, and have no association to the original production - except for the score, so is it really necessary to list so many high schools and drama clubs on the list? A few would suffice...

Amateur Productions
I've cleaned up the Amateur Productions section, leaving only those organisations with Wikipedia articles, and I have removed the spammish upcoming performances - for a listing of the many, many licensed amateur performances, please see this page:

Current U.S. national non-Equity touring cast (2006)
The entire list of cities and venues is not noteworthy, lends little to this article, and is considered advertising (which is not what Wikipedia is all about). The list was correctly removed previously and has been added back in by 128.42.152.232. That person must justify why the list should be there, or it should be removed. I will check back in one week (April 19, 2007) and if no justification is given, the list will be removed and a summary statement of the tour, including start/end dates and number of cities will replace it. Truthanado 04:41, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
- No justification was given for the list of cities being noteworthy, therefore it has been removed and a summary statement has been added in its place, in accordance with Wikipedia policies. It is noteworthy that the tour visits many cities. The specific list of cities is not noteworthy. Truthanado 22:55, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Aida broadway poster.jpg
Image:Aida broadway poster.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Plot synopsis
The current synopsis is almost word-for-word from the text in the original Broadway cast recording booklet. Is that permissible? Annie D (talk) 06:31, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
All Music Is Ethnic Music
Can we rewrite that sentence toward the end of the article that reads: "Probably the nearest stylistic parallel to the work as a whole is Elton John's The Lion King, another musical with strong ethnic elements." ??? Don't all musicals have ethnic elements? There is no "neutral" ethnicity and every musical is about some culture. In context, the person who wrote this sentence seemed to be using "ethnic elements" as some kind of euphemism for African elements; I think we can safely change this sentence without changing the spirit of what the original author intended. 75.165.62.36 (talk) 06:17, 14 April 2008 (UTC)itmeantnothing
Dead link
FYI - the full libretto link is dead so I am deleting it. Treditor200 (talk) 02:40, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Flim Version
So is it even confirmed that Beyonce And Christina are attached to this project. Considering it is going to be released sometime next year. I was thinking that we could elebroate more on what is going on in the production stage if we can find any information. I think that it will be really helpful. Cause from the looks of it now it does not seem that it is possible to release it next year. Headstrong 345 (talk) 04:57, 1 November 2009 (UTC)Headstrong 345
Lowest note for Aida?
I tried adding a range for each of the parts under voice type, and am pretty sure about all of them except Aida. I know the highest note in the part is the F5 at the end of "Dance of the Robe", but I'm not as sure about low notes. I'm positive she gets down to at least A3, but I'm not sure of anything lower. However, I'm pretty suspicious that she gets lower, because the parts of Amneris and Nehebka both get as low as that as well, and Aida's the lowest of the three (I put Nehebka as an alto as well, but I'm not completely sure whether she's that or a mezzo-soprano). So the question is, how low does she actually go, and in which song?
--Rock Soldier (talk) 18:17, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, never mind, I got it. It's F3 in "How I Know You" ("my only hope is siLENCE"), or at least I think so. It sounds like it starts on G3, then slides down to a weaker F3. It looks like I was also wrong about the lowest notes for Amneris and Radames, which I thought to be A3 and C3, respectively, and turned out to be G3 and B2 instead. I've also decided that Nehebka is a mezzo-soprano part as well, and I still think that Amneris is, despite her lowest being G3. I'm just not sure what that would make Aida if her lowest were actually G3 as well, considering that that would make her range the same as Amneris's, even though it's clearly an alto part.
