[edit]I've just learned about Agnes Richards from someone on twitter - I'm currently in the process of looking for sources. It would probably be great if this page isn't nominated for deletion right away, ok? :-)--Jimbo Wales (talk) 17:12, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- Update: I expect the book that I've cited to be delivered to me tomorrow and I'll be better placed at that time to determine whether this should just be merged with the Rockhaven page. I fear based on a search of a paywalled newspaper archive site that I subscribe to that there will actually be too few sources to create a decent biography. In the meantime, anyone who wants to help me research is very welcome!--Jimbo Wales (talk) 17:22, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- Also pinging VicMizrahi who did some substantial work on the Rockhaven article in case he has additional access to sources that might help tell her story, whether here or in the Rockhaven article. Star Mississippi 20:49, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

Jimbo Wales and Star Mississippi
Rockhaven Sanitarium: The Legacy of Agnes Richards (Landmarks) Paperback – October 22, 2018 by Elisa Jordan. Is that the book that you purchased Star Mississippi?
We should add the press release to the Rockhaven site for the $8 million grant. The CA senator deserves the shout out. I added a sentence and reference.
I have a lot of data on Agnes, most data gathered through a premium subscription on ancestry.com. I can attempt to find free sources or images of records if that helps. She was an interesting person who is difficult to research because she changed her name over time and also adopted her husbands' names at various stages in life. Pose some questions and I will attempt to answer. VicMizrahi (talk) 21:55, 13 July 2021 (UTC) Vic
- Thank you VicMizrahi. That information is super helpful, especially the name changes. Will ping you with anything specific, and thanks for expanding the museum info. So key for preservation. Star Mississippi 03:10, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

Further sources
[edit]I added this source for her birthday and I just wanted to share here that this document contains footnotes which may point to other good sources.
“Rockhaven Sanitarium: Celebrating 75 Years of Distinguished Service,” Glendale News-Press, 16 December 1998 - this is probably the most promising in terms of further biographical tidbits.--Jimbo Wales (talk) 20:36, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
There's also this obituary: https://www.rockhaven-the-way-i.friendsofrockhaven.org/set/08bd5cf7-4701-4280-b843-cfefec61b511?pgid=keymtvj9-6c7fb973-90e8-445a-8c83-ffdf769a56f3
I've run out of time tonight, but this is a great start!--Jimbo Wales (talk) 21:08, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
