redundant phrasing
[edit]As of the 00:10, 14 June 2021 edit, the article contained the following text:
Information Handling Services (IHS) ... was founded in 1959 as Information Handling Services ...
The above text was introduced in the the 04:56, 3 October 2018 edit of this article, but the cited article (from referenceforbusiness.com, which is blacklisted on the Perennial Sources page under the Advameg entry) actually states
IHS was founded in 1959 as Information Handling Services ..."
which at least is not literally redundant.
Presumably, the Technical Services Division of Rogers Publishing) ... was spun off in 1961 as Cahners, but it can be difficult to follow exactly what they are saying. Fabrickator (talk) 03:02, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

IHS Markit → Accuris – Accuris is the new name of the corporation. Jax 0677 (talk) 23:18, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
- Any WP:IRS to show evidence of a new WP:COMMONNAME after that alleged WP:NAMECHANGE? Please note that the article does not currently mention "Accuris" anywhere, and I also could not find "Accuris" at http://www.ihsmarkit.com. — BarrelProof (talk) 01:58, 19 June 2023 (UTC)

- Weak oppose: Firstly, those are not independent sources; they are self-published (a company press release and a company website). They are not WP:IRS and they provide no evidence of a new WP:COMMONNAME. Additionally, they seem to show that IHS Markit and Accuris are different subjects, not different names for the same subject. Those pages say that Accuris "was formerly known as S&P Global's Engineering Solutions division". They do not say that Accuris is the new name of IHS Markit. In fact the press release refers to "IHS and IHS Markit" as "previous owners" of what is now Accuris. There is a different article about S&P Global. Moreover, most of the content of https://global.ihs.com/ is actually branded as S&P Global. For example, its footer notice says "S&P Global uses cookies ...", and links to a privacy policy that says "S&P Global Inc. and its affiliates (collectively or individually, as applicable, referred to as "S&P Global", "we", "our", "us") respect your right to privacy. ..." and a cookie policy that says "This Cookie Notice applies to S&P Global Inc. and its affiliates, which you have a contract with or which provide services to you, (collectively or individually, as applicable, referred to as "S&P Global", “Company”, "we", "our", "us") and the S&P Global websites and applications at or linked to from www.spglobal.com ("Websites")." Overall, its kind of strange. The press release says Accuris is now a "standalone company", but its website address https://www.accuris.co redirects to the S&P Global website at https://www.spglobal.com/engineering/en/index.html, and most of what is there is presented as S&P Global. So it doesn't really look or act like a standalone company. — BarrelProof (talk) 02:51, 20 June 2023 (UTC)
