Merger
[edit]This article should be merged with Accuracy_International_Arctic_Warfare as the sub-model doesn't merit a whole article of it's own. /BP 81.225.216.15 (talk) 19:39, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
Popular culture
[edit]I have removed this section, because lists of trivia do not belong in wikipedia (See What Wikipedia is not— WP:NOT). Please feel free to add such information on the two pages List of firearms in video games and List of firearms in films. Deon Steyn 12:56, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
I disagree with this, as although its relationship with popular media (such as CS) may be viewed as obnoxious or petty (especially by gun enthusiasts who look down on these sorts of things), it has undeniabley still worked its way into mainstream (and definately internet) culture and definately deserves a "in popular culture" section, or at the very least a link in "See Also" to one or both of the lists you provided above. 74.12.81.178 06:20, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Erm, it doesn't say anything in WP:NOT about not listing trivia. OSm people may actually find it interesting to see it is listed in CS:S. Tom (N wales)
It is named the AWP to avoid copyright infringment, much like every other gun's actual name in the game. M4A1 is called a Maverick M4A1 and the AK-47 is called a CV-47
- The one in Counter-Strike is not named AWM, it's named AWP. ClanCC (T / C) 07:37, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
Hey, you've got it all wrong. You jsut have no knowledge of any firearm whatsoever!!!
The "AWP" is a version of the Arctic Warfare Magnum called the Arctic Warfare POLICE.
Valve put this in-game, because since Counter Terrorists are similar to police, they would use the police version. The main difference in the police version is the caliber, it fires standard .308 instead of .338 LM. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.232.189.245 (talk) 01:35, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
G24
[edit]German Special Forces like KSK and Fernspäher do use a version called G 24 with .50 BMG (12,7 mm x 99). Therefore I don't see any problem adding this information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wombat0815 (talk • contribs) 19:46, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- Accuracy international AW(S)M rifles are not produced in .50 BMG/12.7x99mm NATO. The action of this particular variant is simply not large enough to handle longer cartridges than the .338 Lapua Magnum. In fact the AWSM magazines can not handle the .338 Lapua Magnum at its maximum permissible overall length. The German G22 - AI AWM (.300 Winchester Magnum) and G24 - AI AW50 (.50 BMG) are however rifles that share the Arctic Warfare system. If you look at the Accuracy International Arctic Warfare and Accuracy International AW50 articles you can find more information on the many rifle variants Accuracy International offers and the .50 BMG chambered variant Germany uses. The variants are separately described in Wikipedia articles and you just happened to find the article on the AW(S)M variant, that is intended for cartridges up to .338 Lapua Magnum.
L115A3 used in record-distance kill
[edit]Worth adding? 86.7.211.128 (talk) 00:16, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
- Added, it's hilarious how some US-based editors tried to imply the double kills were not confirmed ;-) Twobells (talk) 15:42, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
AW "Super" Magnum
[edit]AWSM isn't correct name!! .338 Lapua Magnum ver. is AW Magnum, not Super Magnum! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.206.62.88 (talk) 19:39, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
.338 Lapua Magnum
[edit]I am re-writing the section because Lapua specifically designed a .338 for the L115A3 which the British load to a high pressure and there isn't a 'problem' as such otherwise hundred of long arms could be described as having 'problems' due to ammunition being specifically designed for their purpose. Merging suggestion proposed since August 2012
[edit]Created discussion section after above merging proposal by user 71.181.32.89.

The result of the move request was: Move. Cúchullain t/c 21:50, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
Arctic Warfare AWM → Accuracy International AWM – The article was previously moved to Arctic Warfare Sniper Rifle without any proper explanation or discussion see: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Talk:Accuracy_International_Arctic_Warfare#Merging_suggestion_proposed_since_August_2012 and http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Talk:Accuracy_International_Arctic_Warfare#Merging Reverting the name to Accuracy International AWM will also restore the AIetc template. --Francis Flinch (talk) 17:40, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

- Support. --Francis Flinch - The reasoning of the move to Arctic Warfare Sniper Rifle cannot be correct. This article extensively deals with 2 Magnum chamberings (the .300 Winchester Magnum and the .338 Lapua Magnum chambering) and not only with the .300 Winchester Magnum chambering. I do however assume good faith, since the AWSM designation is sometimes unofficially used instead of the official manufacturers AWM designation to denote the .338 Lapua Magnum chambering. Further the various Accuracy International models and their variants often have separate Wikipedia articles starting with Accuracy International before their model designation , see {{AIetc}}. --Francis Flinch (talk) 10:17, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
- Support. --Twobells agreed, rationale as above.

Inconsistency of information : Expert needed
[edit]Different sources give different info on this rifle. It is unclear what the base platform is and what the derived variants are. One example is the Singapore sub-section of the section operators. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RKKarnad (talk • contribs) 12:17, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
- The Singapore sub-section of the section operators is somewhat problematic since it lacks a reference of official use of Accuracy International rifles by Singapore. What is unclear in the The Accuracy International AWM rifle is a variant of the British Accuracy International Arctic Warfare (AW). Compared to the AW, the AWM has a longer bolt to accommodate larger magnum-length cartridges such as the .300 Winchester Magnum and the .338 Lapua Magnum. The bolt head, locking ring, and extractor were also revised to work with the increased size and operating pressures of magnum rifle cartridges. text provided you follow the internal link to Accuracy International Arctic Warfare and read that article? I will try to mention the AW was the base platform for the AWM--Francis Flinch (talk) 13:35, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
