Pritzker Collections
[edit]Col Pritzker served with the 33rd. As a result, the Library has a large collection of items related to the 33rd. See also its parts: the 129th, 130th, the 131st, and the 132nd.
is this a division?
[edit]I ask because this is most likely a brigade. Namely the 33rd brigade combat team (meaning more than just infantry), part of the 35th Infantry Division. I believe this is an inaccurate article and should be deleted. Here is the article that covers this unit more accurately (source: I served in the 33rd BCT): http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/33rd_Infantry_Brigade_Combat_Team_(United_States) WatneyScience (talk) 05:27, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
- G'day, historically there appears to have been a divisional level formation that was designated the 33rd, however, they no longer exist. In this regard, there are probably two options: (1) merge and redirect this article into the 33rd Brigade Combat Team article, or (2) keep two separate articles, which more clearly delineate the two. I have had a go at doing some work in order to more clearly delineate the two, but it probably requires someone with a better knowledge of the US Army than I. My opinion is that the second option would probably be the best, given that it seems that 33 BCT has a pretty convoluted lineage (e.g. involving the disbandment of the 33rd Bde, and then the renaming of the 66th Bde (from the 44th Div) to become the new 33rd Bde etc.) and the notability of the division during World War I and II as outlined by Teri and AC below. - I advocate for keeping two separate articles. The 33rd Infantry Division (as a Division) was notable during World War II. TeriEmbrey (talk) 13:33, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
- I agree, separate articles makes sense. The 33rd Division is notable on its own for its service in World War I and II as evidenced by the significant coverage it has received in multiple reliable sources. Anotherclown (talk) 12:51, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
