Picture change

[edit]

Just had to ask, but, could we change the current Tupac Shakur Wikipedia article picture from this low-quality photograph to something more influential? I know this sounds stupid, and I'm really new to Wikipedia, but I just had to ask about this. I'm just curious. GabrielquintasYT (talk) 21:43, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Its been a while since I've visited Tupac's Wikipedia page and was totally thrown off by the main photo. I would request that it's changed to one of his nicer photos, such as one where he's wearing glasses. 74.3.142.90 (talk) 18:57, 24 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@74.3.142.90 I like this suggestion. The problem is that a bunch of Tupac Shakur pictures are copyrighted now that he's passed away, and one of the only pictures available is his passport photo (Wikipedia article photo). I'll keep searching. GabrielquintasYT (talk) 20:04, 24 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, I've changed it to this image from 2pac's driver's license, but @HumansRightsIsCool reverted it saying that "this image looks even worse. please find another image", but I disagree that the driver license photo "looks even worse" because although both photos are low quality, the passport photo in Humans' edit has extremely poor lighting (for example, his beard and mustache seem to blend in with his skin)
However, the only feasible option available in Commons are the passport photo, driver's license photo, and his yearbook photo. Wikipedia places restrictions on what photos to use to ensure that its content is freely-licensed for everyone to use, which results in a limited options of images to use.
Seeing how selecting the photo is polarizing (someone else in the talk page even brought up concerns of how bad-quality the current photo is), I think we should hold an RfC like how it was done for Sinead O'Conner and other articles to reach a consensus for what photo to use. Endoftalk 15:22, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I actually disagree with HumansRightsIsCool. The driver's license photo looks quite better, but it's still low-quality. We live in a day and age where 99% of Tupac images are fully locked behind copyright and seize to exist in the public domain.
I know what I'm about to say is questionable, but wouldn't a frame of a video technically be a picture for Tupac? Like when he left court in 1995, taking a snapshot of his face (although, this might be copyrighted thanks to the original tapes). I'm not going to stretch it because this work (and all other videos) might just be protected.
Tupac is dead now. Any photo you find of him on-line is copyrighted. They have to make money somehow. I like a lot of his high-quality pictures, because it represents him beautifully. I'd purchase the rights of a picture of Tupac just to be able to give it to other people copyright-free, but I'm not that type of rich.
I guess only time can tell? After all, Biggie's picture doesn't seem so bad as well. I wonder how anonymous got this picture. GabrielquintasYT (talk) 19:23, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I've replaced the infobox image with a higher-quality scan and edit of his passport photo, hopefully it's better now. Endoftalk 03:47, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

CHURCH STREET, LISSON GROVE, NW8, LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM - CITY OF WESTMINSTER MURALS

[edit]

Murals, Graffiti and Visual Appreciations have for many decades been a source of visual prompting in the Borough (Municipality), to remain resilient in a Borough; where the British Empire (Monarchy) are based, the Host of Political Office is Here (Parliament) or in the US, The White House is Here and the Country's Most Distinguished Leader - Sir Winston Churchill is here, because of the Cultural Significance and Remembrance of World War II. A time where THREE WORLD POWERS or Continents were fighting for Economic Supremacy - Capitalism (Present - Western World), Communism (Present - Europe), and the EASTERN WORLD (Present - Asia, The Middle East and Political De-Factos aligned with the benefits of the Eastern World). The importance of the Murals were to be forms of Advertising to settle disputes between the working class, and state and/or simplify Political Messages the Lower Classes could not comprehend from the Political Elite in the Country. Some of whom, were philosophically aligned with the Main Agenda of The Country, less focussed on the Economy, others who were not Aligned with the Country's History, Significance or Input in the world as we know it today, More interested in securing their own legacy to the benefit of themselves. When I say this, I am strictly speaking about the United Kingdom, as a declaration of not knowing fully the Political landscape of other World Leading Countries in terms of Influences and Migration or Economic Status. Anyway, TUPAC SHAKUR is an ever present Memory of the Migrants of the Local Area who have been Allocated by Central Government to undergo Gentrification. Due to the Resilience of the Community, diversity and shared experiences with messages of Poetic Input TUPAC SHAKUR broadcasted in his Untimely Short Career - He is an OVERARCHING SYMBOL of COMMUNITY UNITY - Much of which has resulted in previous Gang Conflicts, being subdued by the Physical Movement of Previously "Fighting" Entities moving into the same community and eventually becoming at peace with One Another. Given TUPAC SHAKUR'S LEGACY - He has been unanimously decided to be Placed on the Entry Point of Church Street Market, to highlight the Extremely Diverse Interactions that have been occuring since the "Regeneration Project" took hold of the Local Area in 2007. With Further "Updated Regeneration" to undergo by 2036, in line with the many Delays the Local Authority have experienced, that the common man or woman, is unsure or not informed about. Long term Residents and Independent Business Entities have Pledged to Financially Support for the Artwork to be Completed, such as the 20th Century Brand Comcorde®️, who have met Resistance as it may be misidentified by Local Policing of being Cynical in Nature - WHEN IT IS FURTHEST FROM THE TRUTH. As a Family Inspired Brand, with Global connections and a track record of Supporting Communities, Medically, Financially, Psychologically, Morally - They Insist on Being Part of the Unveiling of the Church Street Regeneration Programme for the individual contribution of the TUPAC SHAKUR Mural being Erected. For many younger generations, the rise of Social Media, WEB 3.0 and The Digital Age, it is a Testament to the Global Turmoil faced in the world from 1950 to Present, with much Geo-Political Conflicts, Breakthroughs in technology and Medical Advances. As a focus on the Community Connection or Cord, with an E-Element (online element), for the purpose of their Name (COMCORDe) when Naturally Written by Hand. It is of Significant Community Importance for the REALIZATION OF THE TUPAC SHAKUR MURAL TO BE ESTABLISHED IN THE PROJECTED LOCATION.
