DO NOT NAME Suspects

[edit]

The suspects are for now uncharged. Just in case the police tell us their names: we shouldn't mention them here! We DON'T KNOW if they have ties to terrorism or not. They are just suspects and chances are high that they are just normal citizens! --Rævhuld (talk) 05:09, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Rename the article

[edit]

Dear community, we might rename the article. I just borrowed from The Guardian article.--Rævhuld (talk) 05:19, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The current title isn't great. It might be best to wait until additional information is available before changing it though. I have made some improvements to the article.
On the issue of categories, please note that it is not necessary to include articles in both a category (e.g. Terrorism in Australia) and also that category's parent (or 'grandparent') category (e.g. Terrorism); only the most specific categories are required.--Jeffro77 (talk) 07:01, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, we should rename it. How about "2017 Australian airplane terror plot". Calicodragon (talk) 18:02, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds about right. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 20:11, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The suggested title would definitely be an improvement; although aeroplane is standard in Australian English rather than airplane.--Jeffro77 (talk) 07:29, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"2017 Australian aeroplane terror plot" works for me. Certainly a rename is required.E.M.Gregory (talk) 21:10, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Let's not worry about this until after the AfD is resolved. WWGB (talk) 23:35, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Since the AfD was resolved with a speedy keep, but there was no action on the rename, I took upon myself to rename the article to "2017 Australian aeroplane bomb plot" by rearringing the article title and deleting some words. "Bomb plot" keeps it in line with related article with similar titles like 2006 transatlantic aircraft plot (which is linked on the page) and Cargo planes bomb plot among others. --TUFKAAP (talk) 22:48, 29 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Categories

[edit]

I have removed this article from the terrorist incident categories, as a terrorist incident did not occur because it was prevented. The article has been placed in the appropriate failed airliner bombings category; the appropriate categories related to terrorism are super-categories of this category.--Jeffro77 (talk) 07:42, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"Islamic inspired" is too specific.

[edit]

Hey, I think that the article name should be changed because it's a bit specific. The phrase Islamic inspired might worsen the islamophobic countries. Changing the name to "2017 Terrorist bomb plot on Australian airplane" might be a bit considerate. Even Wikipedia rules promote a neutral point of view on various controversial subjects to not anger certain groups.

See section Rename the article above.--Jeffro77 (talk) 07:59, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
