Contest Speedy Deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted because a) no reason is given as to why it should be speedily deleted, and b) it meets the generally accepted notability criteria in that it is an aircrash that killed people who are notable enough to sustain a stand-alone Wikipedia article and that such notablility is independent of their being killed in the accident. Mjroots (talk) 08:16, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, done deal, tag removed. The Rambling Man (talk) 08:29, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Aircraft

[edit]

The Aviation Safety Network Wikibase (hence why not a RS) is reporting the aircraft involved as AS350 Ecureuils LQ-CGK and LQ-FJQ. We need RS confirmation of this. Mjroots (talk) 09:09, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Now  Fixed. Mjroots (talk) 10:37, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Names of the people on board the aircraft

[edit]

I don't know if the names of non-famous people are included in such articles, but a full list of the people on board the aircraft can be found here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/the_americas/2-helicopters-crash-in-northwest-argentina-10-dead/2015/03/09/32f643c0-c6bc-11e4-bea5-b893e7ac3fb3_story.html The names are, according to the article: Laurent Sbasnik, Lucie Mei-Dalby, Volodia Guinard, Brice Guilbert and Edouard Gilles, as well as Argentine pilots Juan Carlos Castillo and Roberto Abate. PMLF (talk) 09:31, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@PMLF: - IMHO, there is no need to name them. Others may disagree. AFAIK, none of the others are independently notable enough to sustain an article on Wikipedia. Mjroots (talk) 09:42, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Mjroots: Yes, most likely isn't necessary, I thought it was better anyway to post here before considering adding anything into the article, in any case, that link can be used as a source if needed (although that's unlikely too, I suppose). PMLF (talk) 09:48, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Also named in the ref from Stuff.co.nz . Mjroots (talk) 09:58, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Reactions

[edit]

Wiltord's tweet needs both the BBC ref and his twitter post as a ref. This is because the BBC has issued a translation of the tweet, and that is what is quoted. Mjroots (talk) 11:44, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tree

[edit]

On viewing the accident video one of the helicopters main rotors appears to hit a tree and become damaged.

To me it looks like the tree is in the front and the two helicopters fly far behind that tree. So this info should be removed until the cause of the accident is investigated and confirmed. Myotis (talk) 01:15, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This looks like just original research. No reliable sources were included. The dots coming from the tree appear to be birds scattering. Martin451 01:26, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Is there any need for this section, or any of the links therein? If there is info in any of the links not contained in the article then the link can be used as a reference. Get rid, I say! Mjroots (talk) 17:53, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Image of wreckage

[edit]

There is a file on Commons of the wreckage of one of the helicopters. It is most likely a copyvio, and as such it should NOT be included in this, or any article anywhere across Wikipedia. In the unlikely event that it is shown not to be a copyvio, then - and only then - can it be included. Mjroots (talk) 20:21, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Now deleted at Commons, problem solved. Mjroots (talk) 06:44, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Blindfolds

[edit]

Alain Bernard said the contestants weren't blindfolded: http://www.leparisien.fr/sports/autres/drame-de-dropped-alain-bernard-camille-etait-heureuse-d-etre-la-11-03-2015-4594793.php Morhange (talk) 03:32, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed that statement. Thanks for the link. Mjroots (talk) 06:55, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mid-air collision

[edit]

Is it really necessary to put that the helicopters "were reported to have been involved in a mid-air collision"? Can we not just put that they "were involved in a mid-air collision"? I don't think that's speculation. Mattojgb (talk) 13:13, 16 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

 Done. WWGB (talk) 21:05, 16 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
