There is no TD.

[edit]

@Supportstorm: @Jason Rees: @Typhoon2013: So I was creating a map for the Oct 18-20 JMA tropical depression. And when I made it, it was just the same depression (17W) and the citation does not cite any TD. In the weather charts, the TD appears in Oct. 20, so the NRL only tracked it and no one else. The JMA tracked it on 19 18z as a L. To give action urgently. Regards, 👦 08:36, 20 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I will have a look at the JMA WWJP25 bulletins issued at around that time later via my inbox. Jason Rees (talk) 10:27, 20 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The WWJP25's show that the JMA monitored a Tropical Depression @ 12N 172E on October 18 @ 00z and at 16N 162E/17N 161E on October 20.Jason Rees (talk) 22:40, 20 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That proves the point, but they can't be proven unless I prove it using Google Earth. I will answer it later. Regards, 👦 12:00, 21 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Nino Marakot: The JMA WWJP25 warnings are available and verifiable via the MT Archive and various other archive services. Personally I chose to use my inbox, since I have them sent to me via the WX Trop mailing list for a number of years now. I would personally be in favour of splitting the system up into two depressions and putting them both into an other systems section.Jason Rees (talk) 02:11, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Jason Rees: I think I can favor the warnings rather than the weather maps. I can reorganize the section. The Oct 20 TD is 17W. Case closed! Regards, 👦 10:58, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The article is a virtual copy of what's in the season section. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 17:43, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. This article looks much longer than 2010 Pacific typhoon season#Severe Tropical Storm Lionrock (Florita), and merging all the content here to that section would make it quite a bit longer than any other storm's section, which would be UNDUE. Toadspike [Talk] 16:31, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Toadspike:, check out the met history of Lionrock and compare that with the section. There isn't much else in the Lionrock article:
  • "Analysis" - describes the movement with two other storms (so that info is duplicated
  • Some basic watches and warnings, that happens with every storm
  • Rainfall information such as:
  • "Rainfall totals observed in the Hong Kong Observatory totaled 63.5 millimetres (2.50 in). A more intense amount of rain was recorded in the Hong Kong International Airport with a total of 139.5 millimetres (5.49 in)."
  • ""The storm brought rains and heavy winds onto Zhangzhou, affecting the residents.[12] The storm also made landfall in Guangdong, bringing heavy amounts of rain over the area""
  • "After the storm hit Guangdong, floods and rainstorms destroyed 165 houses.[14] A total of 160,000 people were brought to evacuation centers.[8] Total economic losses in China were counted to be CNY 441 million (US$65.1 million)."
So to recap, this could all be summarized as:
  • "While making landfall, Lionrock produced heavy rainfall, with a total of 139.5 mm (5.49 in) recorded at Hong Kong International Airport. The rains led to flooding that destroyed 165 houses, and led to damage estimated at CNY 441 million (US$65.1 million). A total of 160,000 people were brought to evacuation centers."
What do you think Toadspike? (and any future commenters) ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 23:41, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
