Rifle Identification
[edit]I have a musket that family lore is that it was Simeon Whicombs rifle he had during his time with the first Maine heavy Artillary. He mustered in at Bangor in 1863. Went to Washington then on to Petersburg. Then the Wilderness campaign to Appomattox He left the family a book of his War time. How could I identify the rifle and its connection to the First?
